Hey there fellas, long time member, first time posting in the Busse forums though. I've been looking at the Busse knives for a few years and have finally settled on a knife that I think will suit my needs. The only problem I'm having is locating one! The Boss Jack CG with it's slender handle seems to be a great knife for guys with smaller hands. I reckon the secondary market is my only option for getting one though, right? Could I maybe contact Busse and have one made? If so, would the price be substantially higher than just awaiting until one comes up for sale? Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

you can certainly contact Garth at the custom shop (it would be a custom since they are out of current production) It would be one to your personal specification on handle options. Yes the other option is waiting
for one on the Exchange. There is a section of the forums "Wanted to Buy" where you can post what you're looking and be specific one might appear!!!

I just posted a wtb thread. If any of you Busse heads happen to have one, let me know please... Thanks for the response and the info about Garth.

Pleasure to help and hope it works out for ya.... welcome to the madness!!!!

One more quick question about the BJ. How good of a thrower would it be? It seems like either the Pork Shank or the Boss Jack would be the best in the Busse lineup.

Great balance in my experience. I use soft targets so I don't overstress the blade or impact the slabs loose.

I saw that one. It's way too pretty to beat up though. I'm looking for something that won't get too ugly too fast. Plus that knife is too much money for me to spend right now.

Good luck with your search. I would try giving Garth an e-mail. You never know what he has laying around.

no knife in our house is too pretty to beat up, even the pretty ones. LOL Heck, we have used the Gladius and the Butaniku. We are a perfect storm of crazy/beautiful though :)

You will never appreciate the quality built into the Busse Line unless you give it a good Whoopin' then wipe it clean and when its toooo ugly to show off you send it to the "Spa" for treatment....Voila...Beautiful again....:D

Garth should be able to whip a Boss Jack for you!
And a bone/wood handle will be quite slender. However I would concider bone/wood handles too brittle for throwing.
If you want to throw your knife, G10 or Micarta would be a better option.

400$ should be enough for a Boss Jack from the Custom shop.

One of the best knives of the lineup IMO.

The handle is a bit smaller, but I have large/XL hands, and I love it.

The Boss Jack is an excellent choice, my favorite of all the medium sized Busse's...... :)

What are ya'lls thoughts and opinions on the choil/no choil subject? Do you have, and use, the choil on your knife?
