I bought it for 29.00. If anyone is interested they may still have some. I really like mine. Ordered as soon aas I got the new catalog. Opens with a snap. Anone have any experience with them?
I have a few of the old ones from the "real" Camillius. The new ones are made in Spain now ( the other were Twain). I just won one on Ebay for the same price...I want to see the difference in the Spainish one vs the Twain of the past. The new ones are 440 the old ones I think were AUS 8
Yeah the new ones are made in Spain which tells you that their add is BS as they lead you to believe they are left over ones when they are not......I am sure they are good, but they steel is a bit less quailty. I will find out when mine gets here....
Whether they're really made in Spain is questionable. There seem to be a lot of knives being made in China, then shipped to Spain, and somehow acquiring a "Spain" label. They're being sold in Spain with that label as well as being shipped to other countries from Spain.
Cougar, I did not realize that !! The knife is lighter and the steel is a few notches down ( AUS 8 to 440), and you can see the grind is worse....I was surprised that Spain would be making a knife that was inferior to Twain !! That really sucks to hear that "made in Spain " maybe just a marketing tool !!!
Well, again, these days whether anything advertised as 440 is really 440.... A lot of knives are coming out of China with that claim, and they're not 440, not even 440A. Some of them are decent steel with similar performance (not ingredients) to 440A; others do not have performance similar to 440A.
The "Camillus Blades" Heat knives are made in China.
They are inported thru "Ombu" (a flashlight Company - LedWave)
Note they are marked "Patented - Spain" not "Made In Spain"! :jerkit:
They are a very inferior knife when compared to the Real Camillus Heats that were produced to Camillus specs in Taiwan. I would recomend paying a couple of bucks extra to get the real Heat!
Thanks for the info Phil. I have several of the real ones I got on close out from SMKW for $20 each...I got one of these thinking they were made in Spain and perhaps even better than the older real ones, but that was a mistake for sure !!!!
