Bought my first Mora knives

The bottom model is the same blade you can buy separately for mounting on your own. I believe the #1, 510, 511, has this style blade.

Thanks. I have a 546G, it's a 511 with stainless blade. I'm guessing the tang is as long as the 511 then? I have a companion also. Anyone with doubts about any of them should not be worried. For a "short" tang knife, they are pretty tough.

You can use a magnet to find the end of the tang. You should be able to feel a little pull when there is steel there.

I have batoned my 511 a couple of times. The blade now makes a clicking noise inside the blade if I push it to the side. It's still got lots of life left in it, but I still wouldn't hammer on the handle. It's as strong as a knife made that way should be.

For the record, I love Moras; I have several.

opinel and mora hate these knifes, no matter what i spend these two outcut them all.i have spent more than 50 years and more money than i care to think abought looking for a better cutter, but woe is me i havent found them yet

Funny how that happens. After years and many $ later, I have come close to the same spot. I have multiple Mora variations but I am leaning more to stainless these days. I guess that I like the lower maintenance. Kind of the toss one in the car trunk and forget about it until needed deal.
