Bow Legged Chopper Order Thread

Looks like we missed out Jason.I thought about putting an order in,but couldn't commit.
Oh well,you snooz you loose.

But sometimes a good samaritan (thanks, Matthew) comes along and offers you their Bow Legged Chopper w/ green GITD yarn micarta handle and you can't believe your luck!:D Keep after one, Mykel; I have a feeling this badboy is gonna re-set the bar.

Remember, I want it back if you ever decide to sell it! Buying this KMG is bleeding me dry - almost decided to put one of my kids on Ebay instead of letting my Chopper go. ;) Stellaaaaaaaa!!!!

A long wait I'm afraid (Andy's words) unless someone sells theirs- I'm in the queue as well

Andy

Can I change my scale choice to glow in the dark green yarn micarta?

Yes. These are going slow. They are very time consuming to make.

I'll make some in January. I want to clear up these runs. Plenty of time to change handle choices.

Hi Andy

I will take one please. Handle material I leave up to you, something in wood with liners. ie wood bolster/wood handle and your choice of liners. So far I have not been disappointed in your choices for me. Although I am lately digging the Osage Orange I have bought from you,... hint hint...

BTW, did you get my last 2 emails? Might be my mac server/email issue

I'm not adding anyone to this list! Please guys. This knife takes 20 hours to make. Not short shop days either. Pile of steel ankle deep on the floor aftergrinding for 6 hours straight. I really hate making these!

Just discovered the gitd bow legged chopper
Genius! Clearly my favorite... In purple please if it ever happens again.

The BL Chopper needs to be started from a forged piece that requires minimal stock removal. Andy needs someone to rough forge some blanks in 52100. Any ideas???

I would be happy to approach Council Tool in NC on FF's behalf if I could get one as a commission :)
Forging in the USA since 1886.

Perhaps it's time to forge that relationship.

You might get a better response from crex. I'm pretty sure that he hand forges nearly all of his knives.

Crex would laugh at this knife and would not make it for the same reason I stopped making it. Its almost useless. One function, batonning firewood. And its so heavy it can't go far from your truck. I designed the knife to stop folks from passing by my table at the show and not stopping. Once that stopped happening, I stopped making it. It almost needs to be made by Imacassa.

In defense of the knife, I absolutely love mine. It's a stand out in any fixed blade collection and is praiseworthy both in the uniqueness of the design and the execution. It also makes one hell of a kitchen cleaver, especially post apocalypse.

Any status update on this run??? Just kidding. Just thought I'd necro it to be able to reference post 151 and 152...:) and the fact that you said:

(Also, while it is a no no to post in old threads there, I happen to love it, and encourage it here. Dredge up all the old threads you want over here.)

Those were the good old days-- only they were not as good as we tend to remember them. I mean, would you grind and heat treat in you basement today?

It's much better to do it in an RV out in the middle of the desert than in the basement.

Oh wait, got confused. Watching Breaking Bad again.

Good Necro. It's cool reading these old threads.
