Bow season starts Saturday.

So what bows do all the Hogs shoot?

All depends on which stand I am using that day. I have a Martin MV2 that goes with me to the thicker swamp stands, the short axle to axle is nice in tight quarters. Oak grove stands get the PSE Mach12. It is a larger bow but at 70 pound draw and a bit of tweeking I easily get 320 feet per second and that stand offers some longer shots. Also have a few stands over open fields that wont get used for awhile til the crops are out but I plan to hunt those with my daughter (first year she is going out) and will probably take my Skorpyd crossbow since it is something she is capable of using as well. Being only 9 she still can't pull a legal weight bow easy enough to draw and hold if need be. The Skropyd is an amazing piece of equipment. Took a doe last year at almost 80 yards with ease. A shot I would not take with a regular bow unless conditions were absolutely perfect.

I love bowhunting, only type I do! What do you use? I use a Bear Archery Super Kodiak, 55# pull. I shoot Gold Tip Traditionals 5575, with 300gr. VPA Terminators up front. I've got several pigs and deer on her. I usually go hunting for deer up north, but kill my hogs here in Florida, as I don't need a permit and can do it 24/7/365.

5 hours til go time. Just got home from the shop and made all last minute preparations. I cant wait. Its like trying to sleep on Christmas eve when I was a kid.

It was a beautiful morning. Didn't see anything. To much corn still in the fields and a lot of fog but very relaxing.

I'm jealous our season doesn't start entil oct 1 and I got to work all week. So I got another week entil I get to try to take down one of these Indiana giants. But good luck to all those who are out there and be safe

It was REALLY foggy this morning. It was a little difficult driving this morning. . . I kept thinking a deer was going to jump out of the corn fields!

This makes me wish I was doing bow season. I use my Bear Grizzly recurve and Beman Hunter arrows. I don't do stands though. I'm a stalker. 19 days until I head overstate for Mod FA season with my Father In Law though. Can't wait.

Agreed. Straight stalking for me. For me, it's all about being out there, and it's more fun traipsing about the countryside.

Yep. But don't get me wrong. I am not criticizing folks in stands. Whatever you do to get out there. A clean kill, sustenance and being in the cathedral that is nature is what it's about to me.

Saw one deer at about 150 yards going the wrong way. Oh well it was a great morning out in God's Masterpiece. Back at it in the morning.

Hope everyone had a great weekend in the woods. Mine was very peaceful. Not a lot of movement but it is still early.

As I was driving around on Sunday, I saw so many orange vests all over the place. I love hunting season!

Still haven't seen anything close enough for a shot. Oh well, it's no fun if its easy all the time.

I saw a doe with two fawns last night. The fawns were still pretty young so I let them walk.

A bow will hopefully be my Christmas present this year!! I want to go hunting and learn the ways of the deer....field dressing, skinning and, gulp, quartering  Hopefully my belly can handle it all because I am excited!!!
