We have a winner!

I began to think that it would be somebody from the West or Montana who would guess this eventually, so double congratulations since you are from West Virginia.

Moose Drool Brown Ale is an outstanding brew with great malty flavor that really shows up when cooking the Brats. Comes from Missoula, MT--I'm hoping to get up there at some point 'cuz I generally like a town that brews a good beer.

Post a brat recipe and I'll cover shipping to that great state! In any case, send me a pm with a good shipping address and I'll get your new Bowie in the mail.

Thanks to Mentor, Yolbolsun, and Darteres for some outstanding looking recipes.

Congrats to the winner.
Thanks for the chance! I had actually typed Moose Drool before changing it to their IPA. I shoulda stuck with my first thought.

When I saw your answer I thought you might get it eventually. Hey, I've got a couple other blades I do a contest for later....

Moose Drool was going to be my next guess. I came to the thread about two minutes after bk made his post so I held off to see if Rotte gave us any new clues and to think of something else.

First I'd like to say thanks! This is probably the most interesting contest I've seen! Especially with all the great micro breweries out there. I just spent a week in Omaha and I'd certainly recommend the Upstream Brewery. My favorite was their cask conditioned ale, it was great. If any of you folks want to head to WV, there is a pretty good BBB (Brews, Blues, and BBQ) festival held at Snowshoe Mtn every year. I didn't make it last year, but the two years before were killer!

Here is a brat recipie:

1 (12 oz.) Budwiser American Ale
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tbsp. prepared mustard
1 tsp. paprika
2 cloves garlic, minced
Several drops hot pepper sauce (or if you like stuff the way I do, several table spoons!)
6 brats

Combine everything. Cover, refrigerate several hours. Grill over medium hot coals.

Or in a more primitive situation:

Cut a 5 ft long stick, sharpen end, impale brat. Cook over fire. Enjoy with cold beer!

Thanks again!

Brandon

Huh. Now I have to see about getting my hands on some Moose Drool. Hopefully it can be ordered. If not, I'll have to try the traditional method, which involves a canoe, a bucket, a bug net, and a few days spent up north.

Thanks for the contest, and congrats to the winner!

All the best,

- Mike

Now. How do you prepare those sausages?

Just cook them then add beer?

Step One: put brats and Moose Drool in pan
Step two: put pan with beer and brats on the grill/fire and simmer 10-15 min
Step three: remove brats and grill for 2-3 min per side to crisp up the exterior.
Step four: serve brats with a bottle of fresh, uncooked beer and your favorite hot sauce.
Step five: repeat step four as needed.
