Bowie Sheath Results

Wow, the sheath looks alright. It's not my taste. As far as the handle wrap goes and forgive me for sounding terribly rude, but I honestly know of a 16 y.o. on swordforum.com that could do a better job at wrapping that handle. I mean I am honestly surprised anyone would like that handle wrap. Is everyone being polite or am I the only one that thinks that handle wrap looks amatuerish at best. Yikes is all I've gotta say, Yikes.

You dont sound rude, you are rude. Completely trashing something that someone was proud enough to post pictures of. And you didnt just say that you didnt like it, you wrote a whole paragraph making fun of it. Nice 4th post  .

Whats wrong with it anyways? You never said.

The handle wrap is very rustic looking. Theres nothing wrong with that; its meant to be that way and it goes with the sheath which is very handsome.

Just because it doesn't match your taste, your definition what a handle wrap should look like or your severely limited sense of artistic appreciation doesn't in the least make it "amatuerish", contrary to your opinion. And you don't just sound "terribly rude", you *ARE* exceedingly rude.

On a positive note, it's really nice. What makes it even better is the fact that you've got a unique, hand-forged *MONSTER* of a blade that isn't produced anywhere else!

I like the touch the leather wrapped handle gives the whole thing.

It is made for the mountains now, maybe it'll glow red when a cougar's about..

I wasn't going to reply to the rude post but wanted to thank the guys that felt they needed to support me.

Apparently MQC did not read the entire post from beginning to end. His profile shows nothing of his experience in 1800 history.
Opinions are like A$$holes, everyone has one. Some just cannot do anything but look for the worst in everything. There is one in every crowd.

As in my posting and in others, constructive criticizm was aired and positive feedback was provided for improvement. That is one reason I really enjoy this forum, we discuss things without getting nasty and rude. Sorry Nasty, shouldn't have used your name. ;)
None of us are perfect, have varied experiences in life and like to share. WELL, maybe MQC is perfect, but maybe a thought; The more I know, the more I know I don't know.

Ics37, some people are very confused. It can't be much fun :(

I am eagerly expecting my AK Bowie from yesterday's special and I may try your handle wrapping thing although if I have it done it won't look as good as yours by a longshot :( I think the whole idea is great but I will wait for the knife and see what I think. You have given me a good idea. Some people have complained about the handle and you have done something that might make it even more usable and is certainly interesting and something to take pride in. Thank you.

I can't take credit for the handle wrapping. I gave the sheath maker full latitude in creativity to see what he would come up with and he thought the handle looked better wrapped with the character of the sheath.

Trying to use some imagination. An 1880s trapper sitting around a wilderness campfire or cabin, snowed in temporarily, finding the handle a bit cold, spends some time using some spare leather to wrap the handle to make it easier to work with. People experiment all the time, if one doesn't work, you try another, until you find one that pleases you or works effectively.

For MQC, keep in mind, this was a request for an 1880s sheath that a mountain man may have made in his idle hours. The modern sheath made in a modern factory he had teleported thruk his time machine wore out. Than he misplaced the time machine. :)

Just let me say I saw said post early this morning and held my temper.
Glad to see others take care of it in a good way.:D
If this kid continues to post like that he won't last long around BFC anyway.
I'll keep an open mind until I see otherwise. Time will tell if he grows up and outgrows his a$$hole-eness or not.;)

Man, that's an awesome set up! I hadn't checked back since the pics weren't up. I really need to make (or probably have made) a sheath for my AK bowie. That might be a project to line out this summer when I wont have time to use it anyway, i.e. miss it too much while it gets fitted for the sheath:) Hmmm, my itty bitty gears are slowly starting to turn...owe.

As far as the jack@ssy post goes, there are some people that are just ignorant to many things. Most of them young as they can't seem to get their mind around the idea that they don't know 1/10 today of what they will know in 20 years. And that in their whole life they won't know 1/1,000,000,000 of what there is to know in the physical world alone. I count myself as one of this group at 23yo. I'm sure it wasn't meant to be mean, but it was ignorant and bad form to say the least. Especially with a low post count and an obvious buddy-buddy feel to this forum. We'll see;)
Anyway, great rig. I love that mountain man look. It fits the AKB's personality perfectly:D
