Bowies and Hunters

John (FZR). Answer her back again. Just state that you'll take one.

She probably overlooked your email in error. She has been super busy since Xmas to current.

Send her another email, and perhaps she'll get to you this time.

First... You should not post private communications on the forum unless absolutely necessary due to dire circumstance.
Second.... She may not have gotten your email. You should resend the email with explanation that you've already responded or call her to complete the order.

sorry about the post, i went to edit it but was already done. my apologies i did not mean to offend anyone or break any rules or being rude. i see how this could have been seen as rude.

Well in this addition of Bowies and Hunters we bring a little lesson.
Never ever leave bawanna in his man cave to his own devices when he has time on his hands and an imagination run amok!

I give you Stealth Bowie.

I know somebody else here, I'm thinking Wildman or possible Steely Gunz blued one of their blades so it's not the first.
Personally I love shiny and bling, and chrome and of course stag.

But, I thought just to be different I'd give it a whirl, know full well I can take it off and make it shiny again if I ever feel the need or have the desire to do so.

It's actually growing on me, kind of went from mein gotttt, what have I done to, that's not so bad. The cops at work will love it, they are into stealth and camo and Tupperware rifle stocks and unnatural gun colors. Kids ya know?

Oh well, thought I'd toss this out there, I'm hitting the recliner and locking the door to the man cave before I do anything else foolish this weekend.

Ooh, purdy. I really like how the mixed checkering almost plays with the darkened blade to create the impression of "this blade will be used". I actually like the checkering more when paired with the blackened blade. I'm almost to the point of sending one of mine, maybe both, to you to get them checkered and blued.

Thats pretty khul looking! Id loose it for sure one night. My wife says she wants a pink KLVUK! Can you Pink me one?

Three different Birchwood Casey, two liquid and one paste. I just keep throwing stuff at it till I get what I want.

Oxpho 44/40 and a few others work well too. The Birchwood did good on this. I tried to apple vinegar patina it but the results didn't please me.

Does it make the sheath fit tighter? One thing I noticed with my Suga when I vinegar-patina'd it was that it was a much tighter fit in the sheath, or maybe it just didn't slide against the sheath as easily because it wasn't polished anymore. I hope bluing it doesn't have the same result.

I don't think it could have that effect. I steel wool between applications and a person could polish it at the end.

It certainly doesn't make the blade any larger, that's for sure. Had to be a drag effect on your Suga, you could probably wax or polish it and return to it's original sheath fit as well.

The knives look great and your checkering gives something already good, "class". How long is it going to be before than Granddaughter gets her first checkering kit out of the Brownell's catalog and starts her apprenticeship under Grandpa? 10 to 1 she's checkering before she's 8!

Actually Dem Bart the place that makes the tools I like is about half hour away. I do frequently order cutters from Brownell's since he quite often out of everything having sent it all to Brownells.
He made up my first set on site which was pretty cool.

I'd say 8 might be a pretty good guess but that's a long ways off, the questionable question is if I'll still be there when she's 8, but have to remain optimistic, I'll be there till she's at least 9.

"The Bawanna Bowie gets another B (for Blued). Those handle rivets need to be blackened, IMHO. "

I knew somebody was gonna nail me on that. When it's in my hand you can't see them? Lame huh?

I gotta get some stuff that blackens aluminum, maybe a sharpie for now. I won't sleep until I take care of this oversight.
Good thing I just had my nap, fella could get plumb tired.

Well I was getting sleepy so I broke out the sharpie. Worked fine. I'll take another pic when I'm near the camera after my nap.

Everybody happy happy happy now. Hmmmmm.

Now I'm working on "pink". This oughta be good!

that last email was on 12/28 and still waiting for a response. what else do i have to put to get one? what am i missing?

and i am not trying to sound like an a-hole here, seriously asking what else i should be adding? i know with the DOTD it has to be in a certain format and everything, which i feel i did include in these as well.

fzr:

Most likely the problem is xmas rush, but there might be something in your email that is causing Yangdu's email client to treat it as spam/junk. Sometimes that happens and it's not always obvious even when you look at the email. If you still don't get a reply from Yangdu, I suggest that you make a phone call, or maybe send her a Bladeforums message.

Aw man! That's brilliant and I have that in my makeup kit.........................................too much information?

Banana, did you get the blade hot before you blued? I get great results from a super clean tomahawk head pulled straight from a 3 min soak in boiling water.

I usually warm it up, I usually do gun parts, first time I ever tried a knife. I didn't in this case but it took really well and fast.

Some bluing stuff works differently too, which is whey I sometimes use several kinds.

It blued pretty evenly and not blotchy right from the get go so I was pretty happy.
