I used to be an avid knife guy. I was into rambo knives and yes had several of the hollow handle knives :D . Recently, my mom brought me a box that she kept of my goodies. In it there was a buck 119, a schrade deerslayer (BAMF), a hollow handle w/ a handguard, a hollow handle with a slingshot in the sheath, cheap POS tanto (tho pretty sharp), a united (i think) double edged fighter, and some others. It made my day! Brought back some childhood memories! Forgot how cool that Deerslayer was! Any idea what steel they used on it? It has a slight patina and that lead me to think it may be pretty high carbon. Ill post pix as soon as I can.

Here are a couple of junky quick pix.

As soon as you get back from shooting squirrels with that slingshot! :D

It's fun rummaging through old toys.

LOL! The surgical tubing snapped when i tried it out. Left a nice little hickey on my hand. :) That thing, like most of them, is ancient! I guess you could rig a ranger band up to it. Good idea! Look out tree rats here i come! :D

It would be helpful to know what the Schrade tangstamp says. That will narrow things down a bit. I assume that it is older than 2004?

Most likely 1095 high carbon, cryo after quench. Good steel. I have a collection of those spanning from it's introduction in 1964 thru the end of the company in 2004, in the midst of their 100th anniversary. An excellent design for such a large knife!

Luv my 15OT - great, versatile blade. I also have the 152 and, more recently, the 165 Woodsman

Thanks for the help guys! It is pretty sharp right now. But i bet some time on a ceramic stick would get it pretty scary!

:DI have shoeboxes in my room that I found earlier this year full of boyscout stuff, old radios I made, and a slew of old knives good and cheap. Its great finding old things or your parents finding them. I know some of them arent great or anhything but heck its still cool to have em:thumbup:

I hear ya! I need to get some pix of those hollow handles for some good laughs :D Man, i was a Rambo wannabe!

Says 150T

Here are some of the most often seen tang stamps on the 15OT. Careful study of the variations can help a collector to date their knives within a certain time frame.

The last one is the newer Chinese import copy currently being sold.

Parker my friend. STill a good knife IMO. Was my grandpa's. My uncle got it for him one Christmas (many moons ago) and he shelved it. It is basically NIB w/out the IB :D Surgical steel. Works for me
