Boxing Match?!

Close relatives of our beloved Schrades, Camillus knives have a rich history also.
Somewhat intertwined, intermarried, and generally mixed up!!
Here's a blurb from the bottom of a box. No sense in wasting space!!

So who started life in THIS box, hmmmmm???;)

Umm, I think you forgot to scan the box ends:D:D

I'm thinking maybe the late 1950's to 1960's? Other than that I'm pretty clueless as I think that was a pretty standard box back then. Is it as big as a TL-29? A whittler? A breadbox?

O.K, O.K!! I did scan the end. I was just testing the water.
Kind of a dead giveaway actually!

I thought you might talking about pulling out a bone handled 69 pattern with grooved bolsters. OK where's the knife?

3 7/8"?? I would have known right away it was a #18!:rolleyes::D:D

Those are beauties! I'm wondering if the box only held two as I see that 2 Ea. sticker on the end.

I like the way they have the old Camillus symbol cut-out on the ends, nice creative touch:thumbup:

Here's a 1959 catalog page Charlie, have a 1957 catalog as well that's pretty much identical:

I'm sure the box held six, initially. I'm not sure what that sticker means?? Later inventory perhaps?
Cool page! I saved it in the same file; Thanks!!
Eric, do you have a pic of a #69 pattern with grooved bolsters, like Hal was talking about??

Sure do, here ya go:

Nice picture Eric. Milled liners too. Dale pulled out a picture of one of these over on AAPK a while back.

Thanks, Eric!!
I believe I'm close, Hal!
I think this is the 69 boney clone for Sears!

This one might be on that page also. It is a 68 pattern, about 3 7/8"+.
The Craftsman is 4".

Looks like the bone on the Craftsman is from the same batch as the 804 you got a while back too.

They must have had a single source for quite a while. I wonder if they jigged it in house??

Ths Craftsman Chrome Vanadium #9475 knife appears in the 1942-42 Sears catalogs. At that time, as far as I have been able to tell, Ulster (Baer) made most if not all of the Craftsman Chrome Vanadium knives. Craftsman Sta-Sharp branded pocket knives were possibly by Camillus.

The "Spiral Punch" is the best clue on these.

I like the look. It looks hand jigged. These Ulster 55's are more green like that Craftsman.

I like the browner tone, but they all look good. I also think a shield sets them off too.

So "FORGED" over "U.S.A." was an Ulster stamp?? You guys probably told me that before!!
I have a memory like a steel . . . . . .ummmm . . . . . . . . . .sieve!!
Now we gotta find an Ulster-marked knife like that one!!
