I was looking to add a little something to my Buck collection when I came across this on the BPS web site. It was a nice surprise to see it is #3 of 250.
I'll get a better picture if there is any interest.this picture really doesn't do it Justice

I like it!

Could you give us your opinion of it? Model number? Blade steel? Could you measure it? Their site says "Blade length: 8". Overall length: 11", that would make for a 3in handle which doesn't seem right to me. However, I"m tired......

I don't usually like the fixed blade Bucks but that one looks good to me.

"BPS" says it's a 916...

Wilde Bill Cody designed, Bowie custom features a stacked leather handle, coffin-style butt cap, and a mirror-polished blade. Includes black distressed leather sheath. Blade length: 8". Overall length: 11".

Manufacturer model #: 916BRSBP.

See if this works...

There's a 916 on an auction site which gives the lengths as Overall length 12 3/8" Blade length 8", and looks like this -

I'd check the Buck site...Or I could, if it didn't take 20 minutes to load a single page... :grumpy:

My WAG would be BPS made a misprint...The blade lengths look the same, and so do the grip lengths...

Thanks!

Looks to be the same blade, just a different handle.

Pondering it for now, I have time to do that..................

...If the blade on the BPS knife is 8" then that's the longest lookin' 3" handle I ever saw...Is that a "U.S. inch"???...

Hay 'Trax that is the verry same blade i seen in the boxes stacked up at buck jest before going in to the laser room!! and hay it is less then a custom 110!!!! why of all the dang burn things to do ... sell a bowie fer less den a 110! the nerve!!

far as i know all inches are the same every place..
it is the gallon that is more in canada..

The handle is 4 1/8"l, 3 1/8 leather and a 1" nickle silver pommel.

It's a nice knife, I was hoping it would look better than the picture on the BPS web site and I wasn't disappointed.

Definetely a misprint. I could not locate one here to measure but I did find another 916 and the handle length was 4 3/8" from the front of the guard to the end of the handle. The Bass Pro handle might actually be longer by a tad due to the pommel. Nice looking knife!

So, they were made up in ID? Is it 420HC or something else? Looks like a 'buy'! Anyone know, or measured, the blade thickness? Thanks!

Would love to see a "user" model with standard blade finish and not numbered.

I don't like using the pretty models like this one. However, for the price I may have to deal with it.

...Uh...The 2nd one I linked to (the auction knife with the tan sheath) *is* the "standard model"...The one you want is the "Custom"... :p

I'm not sure how Wilde Bill Cody would feel if he found out you want his beautiful custom Bowie knife "dumbed down" so you can use it to probe for mines... :D

This is going to be my next purchase!

I don't see it anywhere on Buck's website....you think this could be a completely custom model for BPS or are they going to release them elsewhere? This would be a good replacement for my old Gerber coffin bowie

I would think they made them for only BPS... There's only 250 of them... They sure look nice... I would love to have one...

Chicken,
Well then, I think I'll just have to grind the number off of it with a sharp rock and then hit it with a can of Wal-Mart's finest flat black spray paint to make it tacti-cool:D

That should make it "just right" for me:)

Oh, and pound a hole through the pommel with a nail for my skull head lanyard:p

Really though, need to ponder this or the custom shop 112. Can't have too many boxes showing up at home at one time. The Wife gets a bit grumpy.

If your wife loved you, she'd let you buy it...If she *really* loved you, she'd buy it for you... ;)

(If she says you already have enough junk, then drop her like a used Kleenex...) :D

Chicken,
Thanks! All the great comraderie here, knife info and marriage advice:D

However, I kind of like this one and since I left here home with 2 very young Boys I can't push her too much. May get the Bobbit treatment after 15mns of her holding down the home front alone.

The BPS Bowie looks like it should be up to the job!!

I'm not much of a photographer, but here is the best photo I could get.
The blade thickness looks like 5/32", just over 1/8".
