BPS Buck Bowie

Certainly no false claims there......they said distressed and it's really distressed.

Points for honesty given.

Reminds me of something that has come to mind on the Custom 110s.

What if they charged a little more for the sheath and sent along a sheath that matched the knife in quality......or at least offered that option?

Might be a win-win.

The comparison with the 124 shows a surprising contrast in bulk.

I've always liked the 120 better than the 124 because the 120 is a little more slender and graceful.....the 124 being a bit too stout and club-like.

Looks like the new Bowie is more toward the graceful end of the spectrum.

I prefer that to the more bulky designs, at least in the larger knives.

OK Goose, for you, I'll break out the camera and try to have more photos up in a couple of hours. Would you like another picture with me holding the knife while I'm standing on my head, with the knife in one hand and the sheath in the other? :D
Mike

OK...here are a few more photods showing the length and width of the knife compared to the 124...

Thanks Mike!!! :)

Dear Santa...
So far this year, I have been good.
For Christmas, I would like a Buck 916BRSBP and a picture of Five-0 Mike holding his Buck Bowie while standing on his head with the knife in one had and sheath in the other and wearing clothes...at least a Speedo.
Your's Truly...
Goose.

Well Goose....I wouldn't hold your breath for a photo with me in a speedo. (that would likely get me kicked out of the BCCI for the lack of good taste)
If I ever learn how to stand on my head I'll put up the photo. :D

Here is mine
#109
I am really happy with the purchase
It came in a cool black box
The leather handle is 99.99% good
There are a few minor blemishes on the handle
No big deal....

I didn't know the serial number was etched on the blade
I like it :D

So, they distress the sheath by running over it with a tow motor... how'd they distress the handle... and why? I am sure it's a nice knife, but, thanks to the detail of the handle, it looks like the earlier problems with the similarly gripped 119 were repeated. Odd how a Kabar, Marbles, etc, for a fraction of the cost, too, can have such a more perfect stacked leather handle.

It worked - now I want a 124...

The stacked leather on this knife is much better than the 119 that I bought earlier. I agree that it is not as smooth as the Kabar and Marble stacked leather but definately an improvement over the work done on the 119. For the record, mine is #005 0f 250. For the $149.95 price, this is a great knife.

Well
I encounter this problem with MACRO lens shots on my EBAY ads a lot
It makes it look WAY worse than it is
Scratches look HUGE
It's like holding a magnifying glass over the handle

I think with some use and natural hand oils====>
Over time the handle will sort of "meld" together

I must also say it is much lighter in weight than I expected:thumbup:

I kinda like the distressed look
Gives it character

So...250 of these, eh?...

Did BPS order 250 and have them sent to Wilde Bill???...Did Wilde Bill have them stacked up at his place, just waiting for him to get finished, and ship them all out at once???

...Or does he do 5 or 10 at a time, and ship them back to BPS???

How many years does it take to do 250??? Plus whatever else Wilde Bill is working on???...

I think Wilde Bill Cody is credited with the design. I've seen several different variations of limited edition knives from Buck on this basic design.

OK, then substitute the Buck Custom Shop for Wilde Bill...So...Do they make them all at once, complete + sheath, boxed, ready to ship to BPS (as 334dave alluded to, during his plant tour)??? Or do they do them in lots, maybe 10 or 20 at a time, between the other special orders???

I'm curious as to how they divide/balance the time & resources required for this order (or any large order) against the normal day-to-day operation of the Custom Shop...(These knives obviously weren't done on the production line)...

The new Bass Pro Shop opened in Manteca CA on 10/16:). So I got my wife to make the 1.25 hour drive with me to see the new store! Wow, it's a very nice place...lots and lots of cool stuff. When we first got there I took my wife into the general store for some fudge;). Well I soon found the knife area.

I was hoping to get her to say it would be Ok to get a bone 119. My wife said I could one knife....the little kid in me was back in the candy shop...any knife!!! I had just been Reading this thread before we left. Ok...just one knife...Bone 119?, Timberlake 192?, or BPS 916?. I had the lady put the 119 back and asked my wife which one of the two should I get? She told the lady behind the counter we will take them both. I just love my wife, she is the best.

I don't claim to be an expert, but I think limited editions and special orders are done in batches and the customs are done in a separate section. But then again what the heck to I know. :o
