Brand/knife that ruined all others

If you want a historic one then Cold Steel's Master Tanto totally changed the knife industry for good. For one the blade was rather good, the design a radical take on the old, the price steep for a factory but not for performance, and lastly the advertising and claims were just outrageous. Blew the competition away and nothing has been the same again.
Others followed like Chris Reeve, Al Mar, plus a few more. The market was once again open for quality factory offerings as the public showed they would pay a premium for quality class products.

I bought one, still have it. Pleased I did.

Nothing really "ruined" considering other knives, but I have slowed down considerably in new acquisitions. The common SAK ruined my carrying of more traditional knives for many years. The Spyderco Delica has always been about perfect and the baseline I apply when considering other modern knives.

I'd say the Condor El Salvador (wood handled carbon steel) pretty much made me stop looking at other machetes. I did get another El Salvador at Blade on closeout.... who could resist a $50 machete for $20, right? Condor products have spoiled me on machetes in general. I do want to get a Swamp Master sometime I am in the mood however. I know I'll use it.
