Brand Loyalty? Yup!

Nor me Rolf :D I've owned 7 Subaru vehicles over the years, dos that make me brand loyal? Yes, until the reliability and quality go's south.
Sooo, sure I am loyal to Spyderco, until....

I'll second that. I'm loyal to a brand only as far as the quality lasts. That extends to tools, cars, food, etc. Maybe that's why I haven't eaten at a fast food joint in years :D

For me Spyderco took the pocket knife into the 21st Century.

The first time I wondered into a proper knife store, I ended up buying a Kershaw copy of the Buck 110.

Within a few weeks I was back again to take another look at these 'Clipits' that I'd fondled on my first visit (my then girlfriend now wife had to drag me out of there).

I distinctly remember thinking, damn, this is something really new here. The clips, the serrated edge, the all steel construction, the Spyder hole - really radical stuff back in the 80s.

Innovation is a powerful marketing tool and Spyderco were pushing the envelope harder than anyone at that time.

Have you any idea how radical the Civilian looked to my fresh eyes the first time I saw it? I was blown away by that knife. You could say it changed my life. (Funnily enough, I have still never owned one.)

But that is why I think Spydie are a great company. They just took the good old slippie and pushed it into a whole new realm.

Long may it continue.... of course, it does get harder and harder to stay ahead of the pack. ;)

I will never be "loyal" to any brand or company. That's illogical and doesn't make any sense.

That said, Spyderco keeps me coming to them. I've tried to buy other brands, but they just don't make the knives I want. Spyderco does.

 Could not have said it better.

Well... looking at Spyderco's track record, we're in for the long run! :)
Yes-sir-ee!

Been there.........done that. Glad to see you've found what we've found.

I currently don't own any other brands. I've gotten rid of everything that is not Spyderco or Victorinox or Case.

I also love spyderco. Strangely enough I havent had much chance to carry one as I had a thing for my benchmade knives. I love spyderco as a company and they make some really sweet knives. All my friends carry spyders thanks to me=D.

I just got a para d2 and I love the knife. It may even displace my seb=).

Im loyal to a couple companys as they have produced great service and knives. For me Im loyal to:

Spyderco
Benchmade (i have had great customer service with them)
BRKT
Busse
And CR (i love my seb)

I love all the above companies. They are all a little different but all make amazing products.

One thing I do really appreciate from spyderco and Busse is that their owners (sal and Jerry) are active with their forumites and I find that really makes me feel like I am appreciated as a customer. Thanks guys and keep up the great work. And since this is a para thread--thanks Sal for making such a sweet knife!

Guys...what I mean is, when i carry a folder, it's going to be a Spyderco folder.
That's illogical??
Not to me.

loyal |ˈloiəl|
adjective
giving or showing firm and constant support or allegiance to a person or institution

I interpret "constant support or allegiance" as "unconditional" support or allegiance. That I will not give; it has to be earned. And as a customer, I would say that Spyderco has earned my (conditional) support. As long as they keep making good products that I like (which they do), I will continue having a hard time buying from other companies.

The good thing about Spydercos is that the first ones we ever bought will most likely still be around and in working condition 200 years from now. I don't think we can say that about many of our cars.

Even if (God forbid!) Sal stopped making knives tomorrow I think I've got my future knife needs covered. My knife WANTS, on the other hand, will never be satisfied!

My first folder (other than a SAK) was a Caly Jr. in 2001. I've bought a few other brands, including a Sebenza for my 40th birthday in '04. Yet, I've also bought 4 additional Spydies and I almost always EDC one of them. My Sebenza hasn't been used in over 2 years. I guess I'm pretty loyal too :)

Of course.............always will love spyderco. Very different knives and all fun to own, use and collect. Can't wait to order the new Terzuola and dragonfly. :D:D:D:D

Let's replace loyal with favorite. ;)
Funk Soul Brothers!! :D

:D

I'm pretty loyal to CRK and Spyderco folders. Also pretty loyal to Busse and Dozier in a fixed blade. Wait...I mean those are my favorites:p

This darn political correctness, is getting to be a pain in the a#@, Loyal is good enough in my books.

Already have the Terzuola on it's way to me. :D I'm a little less excited about the Dfly. I guess it's just me, but everytime I have $60 together I just keep saving for something a bit better.

That or Tom informs me that another one of my preorders is on it's way. :p

JK---Are you in control??
:yawn::D

Hello, my name is Josh, and I'm an addict. :D
