Brand loyalty?

At this point RHK is my top brand, followed by Benchmade. Of course this has to do with framelock and Axis lock being my most favorite locks. (OLD) ZT introduced me to high quality framelock folders and I still own four of their knives. (Old) Cold Steel won the strongest lock in my book and was very budget friendly so I keep two or three of their folders. I tried a few CRK folders and moved them. Have been thinking giving it another try, maybe a Sebenza 31 with inlays and insingo blade (when it is available).
If you like frame locks and super high quality Knives, I’d recommend you try a Schenk WindRiver, Idaho has a lot of amazing manufacturers. I can’t explain how perfect the tier three Schenk WindRiver is. The guys there will warranty I believe ANYTHING.

Notch another vote for CRK. Curtiss knives also have a special place in my collection, that was my first "nice" knife and I've added a few more since. And even though very little about them makes sense for my day to day use, I have developed a bit of a Microtech addiction as of late

In terms of fixed blades, this forum has wrecked me for brand names, with what the custom makers are offering here, significantly nicer knives for a fraction of the brand price, I find it really hard to imagine ever buying anything production again.
So as someone whom isn’t a very big OTF kind of guy. what is it about microtech that everyone goes nuts for?

It’s hard to say why Microtech, lots of good otf makers out there. I’m a nerd and I enjoy the goofy colors they put on some of their models, I particularly enjoy hunting down the Star Wars themed models. So the collectibility and addictiveness factor is high. As far as otfs in general, I really do find it to be one of the quickest and safest one hand opening systems there is. Just for super fast deployment for that quick cut you need to make it’s hard to beat, and your fingers are never in the blade path as in a lot of manual folders, so there is an element of safety, despite it seeming maybe like a scary knife to non knife people.
