***I hope this is ok, I posted this thread under "sheaths and such" but I thought W&SS members might find it intriguing as well. :)

Woooohoooo!! Ridiculously stoked about this sheath for my new Bravo-1 :D Quality Craftmanship!!:thumbup: Thanks again Martin, and I look forward to getting more leather lined kydex pants from you in the future! :) Went a little pic happy, sorry guys.

First two are from Martin. The rest are from me. Sorry they're fuzzy; I was too excited to wait for sunlight, so I had to make do.

The knife clicks perfectly into place. The tension is set just right, not too tight, and not too loose! The retention strap provides extra security.

the retention strap stud really snaps in; it's very secure!

Martin set me up with low rider, high rider, or teklok carry options (sorry, didn't get a good pic of the belt loops and back of the sheath, will put one up later)

sorry, had to throw this one in there....thanks u812 for the slick tritium lanyard :) Might end up putting it on a different knife though, it's too loose on the wide Bravo-1 lanyard hole.

Still have the striker attached to the firesteel, I'm reluctant to remove it just yet even though the jimping on the Bravo-1 generates decent sparks. I'll remove it later and stick it in my psk.

I intend for this sheath to be a functional AND classy user, but the more I look at it, the more I'm tempted to just baby it :)

Martin, GREAT WORK, man!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::D

very nice.. that is a great looking sheath....:eek: martin's work is top notch..:thumbup:

maybe i should look into one of those for my BRAVO-1...

Very nice sheath. What protects the handle from being scratched by that stud?

Martin is an artist..somply the BEST sheath I have ever seen or owned is by Martin, he works with such tight tolerences..very good stuff. I didnt know he made them for the Bravo 1...I will have to email my buddy..Gene

Yes, very observant indeed! :thumbup::D

Right now, the screw head on that stud lines up exactly with the pin closest to the blade. And I mean dead on! And since the leather is relatively inelastic, the stud seems to contact the pin alone during snapping and unsnapping. So the micarta doesn't get the brunt of any abrasive contact between the stud and handle...though I really am not sure what effect the stud screw will have on the pin over time.

If it does start to develop into a problem, I, or others on BF who'd be willing to throw in suggestions, can figure out a way to block the stud screw from contacting the handle without messing up the strap fit (maybe a wee bit of epoxy to coat the metal screw head?). Luckily, Matin set it up such that if I wanted to, I could unscrew the stud and remove the entire retention strap (worst case scenario). The tension by the kydex liner is sufficient (if not more than sufficient) to keep the blade secure during normal use.

Thanks for pointing that out Trentu! I don't know if Martin planned that intentionally, but it's a another great (yet subtle) indication of the quality of his work :)

P.S.
For those of you who don't have sheaths by Martin already, if you check out his blog site, you'll see that his "bushcrafter" sheaths are strapless and designed for easy finger draws. Martin and I decided a retention strap would be a nice piece of added security for a knife with the Bravo-1's shape, handle length, and heft. On top of all this, I don't mind if the handle gets a little scratched over time since I mean for this guy to be a real user. I don't think it's a problem for me as long any scratches on the handle (or blade even, from the kydex liner) are superficial.

I agree with all: Martin's work is awesome! He made me a nice sheath like that, for my Koster Bushcraft. I love it. If only I trusted international mail enough to send him a few of my nicer customs!

My Bravo-1 needs new pants and that is one heck of a sheath. great pics. thanks

That sheath looks great, though some of your pictures are a bit dark. I'd suggest some lights or a light box, but overall nice work.

Yeah, didn't have time or the materials to set a light box up, i'll take some better ones this weekend. Was just too excited to get some pics up:o thanks :)

I'm glad you like it.. It was a pleasure to build, and a new speed record. Between ordering and delivery were 10 days or so?

As for the stud marking the handle. Yes it will eventually. Just like the kydex will mark the blade..
The sheath is basically designed to be used without the strap tho. Retention is adequate for normal use, including jumping over streams and such... The strap is 'only' a nice back-up for the times you feel you really might need one. It's fully functional tho. To remove the strap the stud needs to be unscrewed, and therefore needs to be accesible.

If it was for a safe-queen I'd build it differently, but then I probably wouldn't build it all :)

Thanks for the kind words guys..

Gene, If you check the bottom of the lefthand column in my blog you'll find the knives I have in my possesion. If you want one of those you don't need to send the knife in..

Have a Nice Day!!

Yes, it WAS fast! 14 days from payment to receipt, and from the Netherlands! :)
