I absolutely love everything about the Northern Lights series, except the price. Yeah, they're probably worth it, but just out of the budget right now. Maybe someday...
 
out of curiosity, what is the main difference between the F1 and NL5? The specs are nearly the same, so is it the stacked leather handle or something in the blade design/geometry?

The straight section on the F-1 is longer. Idun has more belly and a wider blader. Idun is also thicker at 5 mm with F-1 measuring 4.5 mm. The Idun is handfilling where F-1 has a thinnish grip. I like the feeling of leather better then the rubber.
The full tang F-1 shown is thicker then the regular F-1. (This one is in the USA at the moment to have some wooden scales fitted, and a matching sheath by Il bruche.)

I like Idun a lot more. The grip is better and the grind is better (read thinner) which makes it mean cutter. When my customized full tang F-1 returns it will be a serious competitor tho..

Thanks Martin! Just the pics and info I've been looking for.:thumbup: I might have to give the Idun a try as soon as I can afford one :) I like the rounder/hand-filling handle and would love to try out the thinner blade.

I dont know what to add to what Martin said, other than the IDUN is just such a great knife to use..it seems to push itself through the wood...I love it. Gene
