For those of you that have never been to Washington state, it's literally split in half by the Cascade Mtn range.
West side, rain, rain forest, very little snow, and green. East side (Wa/Id border) is mountainous, lots of pine trees, HOT in the summer, and lots of snow in the winter.
In between is whats called the "scab lands", or "Coulée country" created from the Missoula flood..... ohhh I don't know about a billion years ago.
I have been all over the Cascade Mtn range, and seen even more of the Idaho panhandle back woods, and western Montana, but ignored the dessert of Eastern Wa.
So I have three trips to this type of area this summer. VERY few trees, mainly sage brush and weeds. So with that in mind, a hatchet, or an axe isn't what I want to take along. My Fallkiven F1 would do just fine, but the Bravo 1 might even be better. Never know until you buy one right.
So far I've decimated some cardboard, sliced a few fuzz sticks, and generally fondled and cuddled the knife. Impressive.
The sheath (an extra, came with a kydex sheath) is equally impressive.
I figure with a SAK, Opinel saw, and the Bravo 1 I shouldn't miss my axe all that much....... but we'll see.
