Okay, Barkie has been under the microscope the last two weeks, but that hasn't stopped them from what they do best. Come out with superbly innovative designs at a blinding rate. I can't even begin to count how many new models have been released this year.

The Bravo-2 specs: 7" A2 blade (12.26" overall length); .215" thick. Extended pommel through the tang. Awesome looking sheath.

I've criticized the Bravo-1 in the past saying it was too thick. But it seems to me that thickness is really well suited to this knife. I'll let someone post a pic of it as my connection is awefully slow today.

Great job Barkie - I really want one of these.

(Edit - sorry about spelling in the title).

These have been out for a couple days now. I'm really surprised no one mentioned it earlier. People seemed really excited about the "Gunnie".

I'm looking forward to a review.

Hi Esav - I wanted it to say 'pure meanness', but it must have been a Freudian slip that caused my fingers to type 'peer meanness' ;)

I don't like 7" blades, too short to be a good chopper and too clumsy for fine whittling (it can be done, it's just not very comfortable). Bring out a 9" bravo-3 and I'd buy one.

+1 on that. Just what I was thinking when I looked at the pictures of it. A 9" Bravo-3 would go well with the Bravo-1.

I was looking froward to this knife, but then I found all the info in the GB&U thread. Based on that I wont be buying this or any other BRKT knives. I am sure it will be a quality knife as most of their offerings are.

Sweet, I just started looking at the Barkies and what they offer, and I really liked the Bravo 1. But I would prefer a bigger knife, so it sounds like the Bravo 2 is for me.

So many knives and so little time. (and money :o)

Wow, people clamoring for 9” Bravo…

…That would be a serious pig sticker.

The Bravo-2 looks like quite a handful as it is.

I got a loaner Bravo-2 headed my way as part of my continuing BRK&T Camp Knife Challenge, I’ll be sure to post my thoughts on this new beast after I get it out in the woods.

I've got an original Gameskeeper and I know there is a Gamesdeeper II with the 7" blade. Same as the Bravo-2, I think, you could chop with it, the blade is so heavy even if it is relatively short, but it's no bolo.

I am not putting down the Bravo-2, I'm sure it has its place, but part of the charm of the Bravo-1 was in its being a little big knife, a short sturdy ergonomic knife that could do heavy work. Once you lose the compact convenience of the shorter blade, you might as well join the "kitchen sink" school of supply & equipment. :D

I know, I know. Two different missions: bushcraft, and survival/search & rescue.

Esav - thank you for the title correction:thumbup::thumbup:

I hear what people say on a 7" blade - the in between length, but that really seems to apply mostly to a view of large knife = chopper. Consider the Swamprats Chopweiler - same length and a growing reputation as an excellent chopper.

A 7" blade seems really great for general camp duty especially when paired with a small blade for detail work. Food prep, batoning, fashioning tent poles and stakes are things that I like a mid- to largish blade. In these cases I tend to find a 9 - 10" knife seems a bit too heavy in the hand and a 2" blade to difficult to lever enough power. A 7" blade also is about the max length I want on my belt and to me that also makes a good camp blade - one that is on your hip when walking around the campsite. My two cents :)

Which is why I'm happy I got the Becker BK-7, not the BK-9.
What size is the Ka-Bar Combat/Utility? :p

Awesome Mike, take some pics as well.

Tony maybe we could get together while it’s here.

I also have the Big-Sky Camp Knife and the Hudson Bay, not to mention my modded Gameskeeper II.

Plus some other nice camp knives worth checking out.

I’ll let you know when I get it.

Big Mike - I'm really looking forward to your comparison review of all them big blade Barkies!

That looks like a bad mofo. I like it alot, but the 250.00 pricetag is a little high for me to justify for that blade right now. Looks like it would make an awesome camp blade/pig knife.

Is sharpshooter doing leather for this one too?

Not to advertise any particular dealer, but the one I checked has some of them them for $210 and ...

"All Bravo-2s come with a top quality U.S.A. Made Leather Sheath by Sharpshooter Sheath Systems."

Well that sounds alot better Esav! With the sharpshooter leather, thats really a good price!

Thanks bud.....
