So I have this rule... the $300 rule. I'm rarely disappointed when I abide.

If it costs less than $300, don't buy it.

I guess I should make an exception for Cold Steel folders. I already own a pair of Rajah 2 folders and I recently got a Tiger Claw folding kerambit... now I have a Spartan on order and I'm contemplating an XL Counter Point.

I feel kinda dirty... but I like it.

What if a knife is $299.99? Do you automatically write it off? Or does the added costs of shipping and handling come into play?

:D

When they make a 5"+ ...

That make the Gigantes that has a 5" blade.

My $300 rule is if it costs more than $300, don't bother looking unless it's a fixed blade or custom/handmade knife.

Congrats on being happy about a new purchase :).

We do have very, very different priorities/purchasing behaviors though. I really don't look at anything over about $60-70 or so, fixed, folder, or otherwise.

Be curious to know what you think of the Tiger Claw?

The Spartan is one of my favorite knives... It gives me that tingly special feeling

I loved the Cold Steel Caledonian Edge. That was an awesome folding dagger.

My rule is to seriously and comparatively consider the performance to price ratio of knives costing over a hundred plastic Canadollars. The only thing worse than junk is expensive junk.

I am stuck with Canadian pesos as well. Once I bought my first 300 dollar knife (a used Hoback Kwaiback) it was downhill from there. I bought 2 Sebenzas (used) in one day.

Back when Eurodollars were worth a buck and a half, I could buy a lot more knives in the USA. Now I may as well pay the sky-high import prices (unless I'm buying Böker/Fallkniven/whatever) and avoid the customs fees.
