Hi all,
I started this knife on Friday here in this pic I have it shaped and the pin holes drilled in it.

I took Saturday off and decided to sit by this most of the day Splitting wood up to feed the hungry fire with my hand axe and the drinking hot coco and having soup to.

Well today I finished that knife up an this is what it looks like all done.

the new owner who spends most of his time in Poland Which is where this knife is going to go. It is a Peace Maker with a 5" long by 1/8" thick blade and has a 5" handle with osage for the scales.

Thanks for looking.

One more fire shot

I just love fires. Don't you? :D

Nice work 'Ol Bud  Is this the fire pit you were telling me about ?
NICE !!!
I sent you a PM !

Good looking knife that and quickly done to.

Great looking fire though, that's got caveman chic written all over it. How many hours do you spend just watching the fire and maybe enjoying a beer? I'd never be able to pull myself away.

Great pictures Bryan. I like the extra hollow pin. I think this model should really be called the moneymaker :D :D

Mine got all patina'd up over the week of heavy kitchen duty. I helped it along with a bit of a balsamic vinegar bath today. I'm digging the unintentional patina-pattern.

Hi all,
Thanks for the comments on the knife I made. This is the 2nd one that this
fellow has got from me. I think he and I think a like, It is good to to have a knife for each hand LOL

As to where that fire I started it about 11:00 am on Saturday. then was by that fire until about 5:30 pm. I chopped wood from around the timber and then chopped abunch to feed the fire. Then had some soup and many cups of hot coco :D. around 1:30 pm my nephew came out and we made up a figure 4 trap. just for fun. then he chopped some wood, did a little black powder shooting  sat by the fire and just watched the flames. then got more wood for the fire that is never ending LOL Thankfully we have a few acres of timber, LOL.

Royal M you asked how many hours just sitting by that fire place we are past hours LOL try into the months. if you counted all the hours involved just sitting and staring at the flames from to many fires to count, that just hurts my head even trying to figure some thing like that out. LOL
My nephew and I are planning on building another one at another spot on the farm, we have the rocks and the place picked out but have not done it yet. I am hoping to get it done soon though.
Yea it has a cave man kind of feel to it to. it is in a neat spot by one of the creeks we have here.
As to the time in making knives I started making this knife in the after noon on Friday. I cut it out and shaped it then drilled the holes in the handle then put the flat grind in it and then did the heat treat and put it in the oven to do the tempering. then took sat. off then finished it up today and then started on another one.

Thundermoon Yea that little hatchet spilt a few chunks of wood yesterday. LOL
I would batton the hatchet head into the log and the hit the steel handle down the wood and was able to split some pretty good sizes of wood into little peaces of wood.:D I was pretty pleased with it.

Thanks again for looking and replying,

Bryan

kgd, the money maker, I like that one that is a good one LOL Your right though. I was looking over the last 9 days out, of that time I made 7 knives. out of that 7 knives 6 had the upswept blade shape. (I took Christmas eve off and then sat.) Remember when we were taking about the lurkers. I think it is a popular blade shape. I think it is my favorite one.
with the drop point being the second and the spear point being the third one.
Every knife needs a good bath once in a while LOL

Hey Richard, thanks I appreciate that:D. I really like that osage for the handles. that is some pretty wood  I am not sure what part. I am sending it to him while he is hear in the states. He will then head to Poland soon. Not sure where though.

Big Mike I like the pic you posted. Way to go. Which knife is that? That you have in the pic?

Hey Big Mike thanks for the info on your knife. How do you wear that knife in your boot got a pic of the set up by chance? That is cool having several places for fire pits. I have a couple here on the farm to.
I am with you being able to spending time in the woods at this time of year is awesome. It is one of my favorite times of the year.

thanks for the reply and chat with ya later,

Bryan

Bryan, here’s a shot of the knife in the boot.

The sheath is just a simple slip with a stud, there is also a Frog that allows it to hang from a belt.

Here the sheath (minus the Frog) is just stuck in my boot, the stud keeps it place when the knife is drawn.

If you look closely at the picture the outline of the sheath can be seen.

I hike with this set-up whenever I wear my winter boots.

Nice pictures Bryan, I love the fire pit. Should whip up something like that here on the farm.

That upswept tip blade shape is great, very versatile. Definitely my favorite blade shape. The Pathfinder you made me is getting quite a bit of use lately. It will be going hunting tomorrow, too. Should do a review with lots of pictures sometime after break once I have access to high speed intarweb again.

What are the size specs on that knife? Looks like a really handy size! *EDIT* 5 inches, duh. Read the whole post... No wonder I liked it, though. *End edit* That osage looks great, too.

Hi all,

WOW Big Mike I like the looks of that pic. I have always like that way of carry. that is pretty cool how the sheath stays in your boot. I like that idea.
Thanks for posting that pic. ok does it every get snagged on anything when walking? and how tall are your boots? I know some will say it is a good way to loose your knife or even get hooked up on some brush but I still like the idea of it. It makes me think if the westerns and how some of the guys carred there knives that way.
Way to go Mike very cool.

I have been thinking about how I am going to make up my rig for a lower leg carry. I know some say it is not the very good carry, but I think that depends on where you are at in the world. Mike you have
really got me to thiking about how I am going to make mine up now LOL
I do not wear as tall of boots like you do but I am going to make up mine with straps to go around my leg.

Rocketbomb thanks, about the knife. also yea making up a pit like that is pretty cool and when you get that fire going and all the rocks get warmed up it is reall a cool way to heat up the surrounding area. LOL
Yep I like the upswept blade shape to. Good deal on your Pathfinder hitting the huntting trail.:D

uncleh the hight of that knife is 1 and 3/16" high or wide which ever you choose. I make them how ever the customer wants. some want them 1 and 1/8" wide and some want 1and 1/4" wide 1" long to 7" long with handle sizes that all different lengths and shapes to. That is what custom is all about made YOUR way LOL well that is what I think anyways.

Udt jim I use it all the time. 3/32" thickness is very cool I carry two fixed blades every day. and one of them is with a 3/32" thickness and the other is 5/32" thickness. I also make knives with thicknesses of 1/16". If you want info get ahold of bear the dog he has one and battons oak:D with his.
He called me up a couple of months back and is chatting with me. We are chatting a few minutes and then Reuben says do you hear any thing in the back ground? I said yep it sounds like some pounding going on Reuben says that he is battoning his CUB knife in the 1/16" blade thickness that he has through Oak and then giggles about it. Reuben has one in 1/16" and one in 3/32" thickness. The 3/32" blade thickness CUB knife is in Australia with him now.
udt jim I made this one for my niece on Christmas day I started at 1pm. and by 6:17 pm later on that day I handed her her knife and sheath. She wanted a PSKK modle with a 3.5" long by 3/32" thick blade with a 4 and 1/8" long handle with Maroon linen micarta for the handle. Here is a pic of it and the sheath I made while the blade was in the oven tempering.

Take care all,

Bryan

WHy doesn't it surprise me that Reuben giggles about playing with a knife? He is one of the biggest knife nuts of us all! He has been a primary reason I have so many great knives from makers here. I may have to get one of these from you Bryan.
