Breeden knife heading to Poland

WOW Big Mike I like the looks of that pic. I have always like that way of carry. that is pretty cool how the sheath stays in your boot. I like that idea.
Thanks for posting that pic. ok does it every get snagged on anything when walking? and how tall are your boots? I know some will say it is a good way to loose your knife or even get hooked up on some brush but I still like the idea of it. It makes me think if the westerns and how some of the guys carred there knives that way.
Way to go Mike very cool.

Bryan, about 16” of my leg is in that boot.

I never had a problem carrying a knife that way in those boots.

The Knife is 12” overall, and about 8” of it rides in the boot.

When I do brush against something, or one of my dogs brush against me, the knife might get pushed forward or back, but I never had it try to come out of the sheath/boot.

And comfort is not an issue; as long as I have the proper tension on my laces, I don’t even feel it there.

It is a very convenient place to carry a knife; the knife is easily accessed even in my heavy winter gear (when belt knives are often hard to access).

I started carrying a knife this way many years ago when I was doing quite a bit of backbacking in snow. I found I preferred tall boots to wearing boots and gaiters, and with my pack belt interfering with my belt knife the boot top became the place. In the past I have used a sheath with a metal clip, but have since settled on the current system.

I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

PS - Here's another fire pit shot.

Hi all,

Rockwolf LOL yea when you think of Reuben and what knife loving guy he is it is easy to think about him laughing out loud while using his knife. :D

Yea Big Mike thanks for the info you gave. That is a lot of knife to have in your boot. I can see why you chose that method of carry. I have made a coupl;e of sheaths for customers that wanted to still carry there knife on there belt when back packing. I just made the belt loop longer and that accomadated them just fine, when they wrote me back saying how thinkgs went when they put there back packs on.
I like the pic of the fire and the knife to LOL
About 20 years back I was when i was in the Marines. There were some Navy Seals that came to are base and were doing some cold weather training.
I noticed this one Seal with a leg mounted carry but his knife was on the inside of his right leg. I never got a chance to ask him why he put his knife there I wish I had though. His Knife handle was a very slim profile now it makes me think of like a Rat model knife of corse at the time I did not think that. I think his knife blade because of the sheath must have been about 5"
to 6" long so over all his knife was about 10" to 12" I am guessing. I have been thinking about doing something like that. I have the knife started that I plan to carry like that but I still am working the details out in my head on the sheath for my leg. LOL

When I get it done I will post a pick of it. seeing that pic with the way you are carring your knife is just driving me crazy LOL I am wanting to get mine done but do not want to waste any leather LOL
Anyways Thanks for the pics and the replies and chat with you later,

Bryan

Bryan,
That seal was wearing his knife on the inside of his leg for a very good reason. If you need to ditch a weight belt while diving, there would be a chance of the belt catching on the knife if it were worn on the outside of the leg. The knife is on the inside so there is nothing for the weight belt to snag on as it falls off you.

Iuke12,
Thanks for that info that makes sense. If I remember correctly he was the only one who wore his knife like that.

Thanks again,

Bryan
