Breeden Pathfinder (pics)

That picture with the knife in the water was pretty cool I did not think
of loosing your knife while stream cossing. I have on the trail or by setting my knife down thought about how I could possibley loose my knife. That was a great
thought Bear the dog.

Wow I didn't know people like to see a drowning knife so much. Here is an alternate view.

Hi all, that is another great pic in the water Bear the dog.

In the last few days I made up a couple more Pathfinders and 3 more PSKK II s
one with a 5" blade and one fellow said that after seeing the knife in the water
and how well it showed up " that did I am ordering one" he said. I have made
several in 3/16" and one in 5/32" and two in ( my favorite thickness) 1/8"
thickness. It is supose to rain to night and in to Thursday I will get the third one
started and hopefully finished by Thursday night.

I am waiting for the U.S. Navy to give me a call. LOL

Thanks again Bear for the knife in the water pic.

That is funny I think there has been a total of 10 comments on other forums included that really think the water shot is a great selling point. It wouldn't be the first time a clumsy accident turned into a good idea!
I think the 4" (or 4.5") Pathfinder in 1/8" is a great idea.

Bryan,

Will it have about a 4 1/2" handle on that 4" one? I'd sure be interested in it! I head home to Texas on Tuesday. Please let me know how it turns out!

Ron

Nope! I am looking forward to seeing it! Just for the record, so others can see it, I'll repost the "modified" pic of your big one that I did:

I noticed Steven Dick of Tacitacal Knives said that he takes french
bread along on some of his hikes and that a 4" blade is just to short
where as a little longer blade just makes cutting the bread easyer.
Steven mentioned that he might as well use his pocket knife instead of
a four incher. It seems that he prefers a 4.5" to 5.5" fixed blade. With my knife being right in the middle it just works for me.
Any body else take french bread or have thoughts on this?

Bryan

Well, I don't always take French bread along, but for me, the 4.5 - 5.5" blades have been just the ticket when I'm not packing an axe or larger blade. That ~5" bladed knife is just about the maximum size that I want hanging on my belt; anything longer is just too cumbersome and I developed a bad taste for drop leg sheaths from my last tour to Iraq...they really got in the way! For a multipurpose hunting/woods-bumming knife, I really like the size of your Pathfinder. About the only fixed blades I carry that are shorter are strictly for bushcraft work or skinning knives when hunting. Again, for me, that ~5" fixed blade is a great all-round camp knife that will always be with you unless you're skinny-dipping:eek:

Great designs Bryan!

I am liking his work more and more every time I see it. I will have to set aside some funds and start thinkin out designs...... Underwater shots are real neat. I wish I had water that clear here, but, you cant see youre hand in front of your face most places.

Rock6 I would still take the knife with me skinny dippin at least
if I dropped my knife it would be easyer to see and find LOL.
I just feel naked with out having a knife on my belt or in my hand.

Yea I just like the 5" better than the 4" to 4.5" blade length
my self this is what I carry every day. Anything longer is not
as easy getting in and out of the deep pouch sheath and
then when sitting in my truck my knife pouch rides just fine
and does not get in the way or hit the seat like a 5.5" or
longer length does that I have tried.

Right now I have in stock a PSKK II with a 4" long by 1" wide
by 1/8" thick with a 4.5" long orange handle knife and one
with the same but with a 5" long blade and you can really tell
the difference in snap cutting ability for taking down smaller
branches and the little extra length for battoning is a real plus.

I have two new knives in oven as I write this with a 4" and 4.25"
blade length Pathfinders I will get the handles on by tonight and
have the handles shaped by Saturday night ready to ship out by
Monday morning.

I will post some pics for you all to see this before the week end is up:D

them.

Looking forward to seeing those "shorty" Pathfinders, Bryan! I find if I carry a fixed-blade longer than about 4-4 1/2", I usually go for something with a 7-8" blade, so that it can be readily used for chopping/slicing. Just my personal preference. In my younger years, I've been known to carry a Randall Model 1 or Model 14!

man those knives are cool bryan... i can't wait to get my hands on one...:o

great pic bear... that is an excellant example of orange knife handles in the woods..
