Since I made up my first knife with a 5.5" blade length , a couple of weeks back. I found that I really, I mean really like that blade length.

The knife with osage handle next to this new knife with the bocote handles has a 4.5" blade length and for kitchen dutes I have found that a longer blade sure makes them duties a lot easyer to do.

From kitchen to camp chores I think it will do:thumbup:

Well whatcha think?

Excellent Bryan - that bocote has a lot of character! Looks like you put the pathfinder blade shape on that one too! Very knice :D

Looks great Bryan. Bocote looks really nice and the blade shape is a winner. That 5.5" bushcrafter you made me is fantastic--good length for a utility blade. :)

Hi all,
Ken, yep I put the pathfinder shape to it but with the curvy handle from your Big Paw knife. The handles on this knife feel so good to me and the blade length is so freaking cool. Well I think LOL. I can hardly wait for breakfast to get here Potatos beware. LOL I told Kathy that we are going to have fried Potatos, with onions, red bell pepers and smoked beef sausage( all cut up with this knife LOL) gravy, with fresh farm eggs on top.

Rotte, Yep you are right that 5.5" blade length is just a great al rounder for cutting chores. I got the handles on your Roach Belly. I will be putting the finish on Sunday :D

William, Mike and Rocky thanks guys. :D

Wow. You need to keep those Canadian belt knives away from the steroids:eek:.

Thats a great looking knife. I'd have a hard time keeping it in the kitchen.

Hi all,

LOL Rupestris, This knife is going to get out of the kitchen every once in while:D After Breakfast in the morning, I am going to take that bocote handled curvy Pathfinder for a walk in the timber and clear some trails through some ceder trees. ( I hope my hatchet does not get to Jealous LOL) As for the Steroids I can't help it LOL I love the blade and handle shape. It just says to me " just use me " LOL

kuRUpTD thanks alot.:D

Tulfuchre I just measure the handle and it is 3/4" wide I started out with 3/8" thick scales I like my handles a little less thick and some of these guys on here. Are you wanting somethin in perticular for a handle thickness?

Take care all,

Bryan

Did you stabilize that bocote? I just got a whole bunch in, and I've heard that it's so "oily" that you can get away without stabilizing it.
Thanks,
Mitch

My favorite kitchen knife is a five inch Kershaw Santuko and it works great except for big heads of cabbage or lettuce, then I have to grab the 7 inch. I love that one though. That may be on my list in a 6 inch.

That's a great looking knife Bryan. The Pathfinder blade shape is great, and I think it works very well for kitchen use. That handle shape looks like it should work very well with the blade. The bocote is good looking stuff too, one of my favorite handle woods.

Hi all,

BarberFobic1992, thanks I am liking the different woods to. For my personal I guess you could say carry Survival knives LOL I still have them with the Orange G-10 on them and now a Spy capsule in the handle:eek: like this one .

But I am starting to make up some knives for me with the wood handles to.
I took a couple more pics of the bocote wood here is one with the top of the handle.

A few months back I had a fellow contact me about getting two knives made for him. He wanted the same blade shape, thickness, and handle shape, but with one knive with a 4.25" long blade and the other with a 4" blade. I asked him why two of the same knives basicly. Well he said he wanted one with the orange handle for his keep on his belt do not use survival knife unless needed and the one with osage wood for his wood using knife that he kept in his pack. I thought that seemed like a good idea. Well I have made a few with the orange for me and now am going to do a few with the different woods.

Troop I just order the scales form Jantz knife supply and just put them on this knife. I did put some mineral oil on after I got it all finished up. I plan to put some boiled linseed and shallack on it sunday I have another knife with Birdseye maple to do for a customer so I am going to do them both with that finish on them.
You are right bocote it is oily though LOL I found that out when cutting and shaping them to the handle for this knife.

thundermoon Before Kathy and I went for a hike today I used this knife in the kitchen

Then on our walk. I cut some blackberry shoots that hang over some of the trails. Like in this pic.

Since you said you are doing some moving this weekend and to take my time LOL. I will be starting your LiCK knife ;)this week and maybe see this week too.

You guys need a little snow I think. Looks far too warm for the last day of January. Looks like a great day out! That handle shape really does suit the pathfinder blade. Very nice profile!

hi Ken as for the snow Heck no LOL I am ready to be snow free until next Christams LOL
I tell ya the feel of the bocote wood is just awesome to the touch.
Bryan

This is the only knife I have in bocote. It was made by Jeff Diotte who lives only about 3 km from me. Jeff still makes knives, but his main business is now selling knife supplies. Anyhow, I've always liked the look of bocote. Yours has really nice grain to it!
