Brian Tighe makes good on bad situation! Positive ending!

I should update that Mr. Tighe just emailed me himself and said he was making me a new knife and it should take a week or two. He apologized but sounded a bit put out. He claims he has no control over what other people do. I found this interesting enough to include here. So I shall see what timeframe and how this plays out.

I think you're ok if Bran Tighe is involved.
I had a problem with one of his customs that I bought second hand.

The original owner must have taken the knife apart and messed up the heads on all the screws.
I emailed Mr. Tighe and told him it was probably damaged by the first owner and he sent me a complete set of torx screws , including the pivot assembly.
No charge and no questions asked.

Well from what you said before it wasn't Brian's fault it got lost in Canadian customs. They are somewhat notorious. It's kind of like an "act of god" with those idiots, they stop lots of knives.

No maker has an obligation to repair a knife after they have retired. I have a custom knife that needs repair, but after the cutler retired he closed up shop and blew away like "dust in the wind." I kind of fixed it myself.

If you carry and use custom knives you've got to be prepared for irrepairable accidents and losing it.

I didn’t think he had any obligation to fix it. I’m very happy he’s taking ownership of the problem. I sent it to BT&F who are still in business and asked that they fix the issue. It also is not my fault that the knife was lost in customs. In all fairness I think BT&F should give me the money for the lost knife but if Mr Tighe is willing to do this it’s all the better.

I have only two knives which were 'lost'. ONE of them was confiscated by Customs going to Canada.
Never, EVER, declare it's a 'camping tool'. They know.

I'm at the shop, and the pics are not loading but from those likes you've got so far I think his thread title should be changed and probably include Brian Tighe's name

Happy ending with a gorgeous knife. Glad everything worked out in the end. Now you have a crazy story to go along with that knife.

Side note: There’s still one problem here. NOT ENOUGH PICTURES!!! 😂

Good stuff. I'm impressed, and yet not surprised once Brian involved again.

Good for YOU!
