Benchmade, im going to make this short, but sweet! Please bring back the 40x line because we flippers need a decent production balisong. I know that you guys have a special place in your heart for beggars like me, so let that spot shine!!!
 
You just broke your own rule of one post per person ;) Not a good rule anyway hard to have a discussion that way.

Back on topic, yes it would be epic if Benchmade brought back the 42. I bought mine 10 years ago wish I bought more when I had the chance. Now I'm too afraid to flip with it as it will be hard to replace. If they brought it back I'd order one for sure.

IMO the only good balisong made my Benchmade currently is the 51, which is actually quite nice.
 
I have looked for this model for years please Benchmade bring it back I don't care how much I have to spend!
 
If money is no object for you, then you should be able to strike a deal with a seller on the secondary market, no problem.
 
I don't understand why they discontinued the 42.
It would be great to own one but there is no way I would pay what most people are asking.

Even if this post goes past 30 pages I don't think Benchmade will notice or even care what the fans of their knives have to say about bringing back these balisongs.

The price of Titanium went up during the war, it doubled, and tripled in price. I've also heard that the molds they used for the handled basically wore put after so many runs were made. It was not something Benchmade could continue to produce at the given price point, so it went by the wayside.
 
Titanium prices have been dropping quite a bit last few years.

Also why not make new molds if thats the case? They were made once they can be made again. Lets make it happen Benchmade :D
 
Strange thing for a noob to post, but I will play. I don't care if they bring back 4X series, because they will want too much for them, and there are plenty of fools willing to pay.

I had a 42, was $125. Seemed like an ok knife for the price, wasn't for me so I sold it. Wanted a flipper later, got a 46 for $170, was not remotely worth it- bad uneven grinds and dull as a butter knife. Not worth it, but I am too lazy to do anything about it, makes a decent toy for playing around with and twirling. Now they want ridiculous amounts for steel handled knives and maybe they make them right now, but there just isn't good value there.
 
Many production companies made cost saving adjustments during the Iraqui war period after the 42 came out. I recall buying an EKI CQC7 where the lock was Ti but the supporting liner was steel. Just an example. I'm not a Bali fan but had the chance to play with a friend's 42 and thought it was very well made.

Now didn't Benchmade do another run and wasn't that wildly expensive? The first run was affordable and then that movie came out with the Ninja girl and all hell broke loose. There was a guy over on the company Forum that bought a bunch whatever they cost, and he sold a few at amazing prices.

Bali models have a limited audience in general, but I would suggest there could be a market for another run, yet they (BKC) would have to do something different in the build so original owners wouldn't get upset...like making the old 710 line in M390 with minor changes to scales and other goodies to attract a loyal crowd wanting something new and different.

It will be interesting to see what happens with this.

I think it would sell if the pricing was realistic. I, with just dumb luck, found this when visiting our daughter in NC and got it at a fair price.
It is a good quality knife, and I would like a chance to get one to play with as this one just sits in the safe.

Please please please bring it back for that 118 dollar price tag. Ditch 154cm blade. Use 440c. Or sanvik. Or it doesn't really matter just keep everything else the same. It would be genuinely the best best. Idea.

I would like to see all the 4x balisong back up for sale I would also really appreciate it if the benchmade company would make anothrr titanium balisong because I really like my 42 benchmade and it has held up better than any other balisong I have had yet im just looking for a 47 to complete my collection. If anyone had one for sale my email is jazzyjas666@gmail.com im looking for one in good shape with a 154cm blade if anyones selling (which no one will be cuz its such a beautiful knife) just email me and we might be able to make a deal.
