Britain's knife laws... Wow!

Especially if you hammer on the political aspect instead of talking about knives... Sorry, but the knife aspect of this political matter is actually interesting : there are a lot of new knives appearing in the slipjoint department and that's a good thing, IMO, although they are small bladed. But small is beautiful as they say and I like to believe it !

The topic of this thread (Britain's knife laws... Wow!), IS political!

Treat your knife like your penis. Carry it but don't show it, even if you're proud of it !

Just a suggestion: you should stop & re-read your own word's.

Mark my word's: there WILL be, someone here on this forum, who will "deem this thread too political", & report it.
Your wish is granted. There is a sub-forum specifically named "Knife Laws" which is where this type of discussion belongs.

Hammer on, my good man. I tried to keep it light mooded. Answered a joke with a like minded joke. Flew over your head or what ? And the schooling about political in the same stride... You're funny ! Thanks for the mild chuckle. Now, back to knives ! Here is a little something that I'm quite in love with : small (under 3" blade), featherlight, razor sharp, one hand opening, non locking but as safe as the strength of your grip, and still it should be 100 % UK legal. There are Englishmen here who know way better than I and they are welcome to correct me and enlighten the thread. And THAT would be interesting.

Yes.
Look at the knife laws in China. It is illegal to carry any knife there of any blade length, be it a slipjoint, locking blade, or fixed blade. Unless it is necessary for your job, you can't have it.

Same laws technically apply in Philadelphia as well...

I'll see your behavioural problem and raise you a Mothers of Invention !
Sorry, I'm not so computer smart. I hope the link works : it's a great piece of joy !

The UK does not have a knife crime problem. They have a societal behavioural problem.
Bans will not correct it. Necessity is the mother of invention and they may not like what follows!
Indeed. Acid attacks are on the rise in London. :(

Some of the laws are brutal and ridiculous from a lot of countries. The tread is very civil just a topic of discussion under GENERAL knife discussion.

I have a lot of pent up hate on this subject. You are right but I can't answer to that in a suitable manner. It would definitely overstep the boundaries of GKD. Isn't it time for some friction folders pictures (before this gets moved to Political) ? Would be a shame, there seems to be some potential knife wise.

And that started as a culteral thing, don' want to go too political on that but "honour" is usually involved. Now it's just more common even though it's not exactly easy to go out and buy jugs of acid.

As for the 3" or under law, I always carry when back in my motherland, however it still doesn't stop police or the lesser powered community support (plastic policemen) from making a deal out of it.

As for zombie knives, they did that due to the fad of kids in gangs showing off cheap tat.

They did the same with swords a decade ago, you can't own anything over 50cm unless it's traditionally made...all that did was ban the cheap stainless ones and male carbon steel ones made in China (which do more damage if used), cheaper and more readily available.

Humanity, taken as a whole, is brutal and ridiculous. If you have any faith in humanity placing freedom and logic over emotion, selfishness, and cynical propaganda, then I commend you. People are all too willing to give away rights and freedoms that they don't personally value, not realizing that those precedents only make it easier for authoritarians to turn the tables on them as well.

That's not a political statement. That is a statement that while humanity has a high opinion of itself, humanity in reality is little more than beings with overclocked ape brains.

Mark Twain is one of the most interesting writers of modern times. I must order some of his books. This guy rocks, he's a master of irony ! You know about his favourite knife ? I do but won't say it. Neener, neener, neener...

A Barlow, maybe?

Jim

Definitely, my good man ! From "Huckleberry Finn", I believe it was a single clip bladed Barlow. Could be a two bladed one, or a spear point main blade. I believe, as a kid, all american knives were envisioned as Bowie bladed. So, there's that !
