• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

BRKT Golok Made Pointy

Thanks, guys. Today I am going to try a new method of grinding. I did this one the way I have always done it, by grinding away from the edge (edge down). I can't actually see what I'm grinding until after each pass on the belt grinder. Mike Stewart of BRKT grinds all his knives with the edge facing into the direction of travel of the belt. He says he can better see exactly what he is taking off the edge that way. So I will try this method on a 12" Tramontina today and see how it goes.

I always grind edge up, it is easier to see what is going on with each pass.

John

Holy crap! Except for the shorter handle and upper cutting edge near the tip, that blade's overall shape/form looks like my wooden practice sword for FMA/arnis! A J.I.C. (just in case) "fighting" golok
