Broke my first Busse.....

.................yes you are correct..... the only Fairy Tale I am really familiar with is the one where I am rich, handsome and famous.......in reality I am only handsome.... ;)

There are people all around the world who know what your favorite knife is. People that you have never interacted with. You’re more famous than you realize.

Completely covered.

Send that bad boy in.

I'll regrind it, drink a beer with it, and send it home!

Let's Drink!

And this is why I have started buying busse like crazy. New and used. That is a warranty that you cannot beat. Because like the author of this thread, I'd consider it an idiot problem. Not a knife problem.

How does the Busse warranty work for discontinued Knives like the ASH2? Not that I’ll ever probably need it, but I am curious.

I once had a Bushwacker LE that bad been shot from the side with an AP .50 cal round..

I bought it with another knife and sheath combo and it was essentially free with a AZ Welke sheath to boot (the price on the other Busse BAD plus sheath essentially meant the broken one was free).

I was contacted by Busse in a PM offering to warranty the knife some one shot with an AP 50BMG round!!!!!

Tempting...but I did not take them up on the offer.

Pics of the knife shot with the 50 cal ap? For science....

Are these counted as under the same busse warranty?

I've seen Busse take care of things like that before, possibly regrind it into a tanto point.

As Andy isn't local, the shipping costs probably aren't worth it though.

Andy the Aussie Andy the Aussie these types of repairs can make fun, really pointy tantos. I repaired a test knife that way once and it worked out really well. As you continue to use and sharpen it, it starts looking more like the original profile as long as you sharpen the tip as if it was a regular knife. They can be quite pokey.

Generally, a repair is considered but I believe the few I've seen have been an equal or greater value of a "like knife" is a replacement if they can't get the knife repaired or replace it with the exact same model. There may have been a credit at the price you paid on it (MSRP, I guess) but I think many are handled on a case by case basis. I don't think I've heard a bad report from the warranty program but there is a big challenge for those outside of the US as the shipping cost may not make a warranty a reasonable option.

The Shop has been known in the past to keep knife blanks for the purpose of future warranty work in event of catastrophic damage. With the explosion of models over the last some years that may not be true anymore. Generally speaking, if a model is no longer available and your knife cannot be fixed, then you would get a shop credit equal to the original retail price.
