Broken Busse

The extraction was with a cold steel machette!

the chips are from the back side of a fiskars axe. I couldnt get through the knot and I didnt want to ruin the edge so I just went through. It took everything I had to get it out.

I used to use a old coleman machette that was old and rusted, no more than a skinny metal bar with a melted handle It didnt do anything but make those almost invisable dents. I lost the coleman baton in a flood. The knife survived though.

I was suprised to see the finish in such good shape when the micarta peice broke off. Its not rusted or anything. Since it was new its had a hairline gap on that side right where it broke off. But I dont think that atributed to its failure.

I m sure it would be appreciated, but have you checked the price lately?

THe JWB might cost ya more than the knife did:D;)

Hey, hey, if he wants to include a bottle of JWB, let's not discourage him. . . . I personally, think that it's a brilliant idea!!!!! :D:thumbup:

Nice job on your blade!!!. . . Send her back and we'll get her back in shape for you. . . .

Let's drink!!!!

Jerry :D

I think she looks pretty good as-is, apart from the missing bit of handle. It's just 'character'.

I can't wait to see the 'after' pictures though...

LMAO!

I guess I am sending another bottle of scotch to Ohio:o:D;)

Way to use your SJTAC.

But, IMO, the INFI blade is good, doing it's job and holding well.

On the other hand, I personally consider micarta a different story and while Jerry is obviously standing behind the abuse of the handle under the warranty, I think a small bottle of scotch would probably be a fair exchange for him "Generously" providing you with a new handle to replace an obviously abused handle that should never (IMO) be expected to take such abuse.

For what it is, I would NEVER hesitate to ask for warranty on the INFI blade if it failed. And I wouldn't hesitate to ask for warranty coverage on a handle that failed based on what I would personally expect a handle to .... err... handle.

But, I don't think I could send a handle back that has been treated like that and even ask for a replacement without offering payment.

But,.... I am not trying to stir things up.... that's just me and my opinion.

The good thing about this situation is that the Busse crew decided they would fix it for him. I'm sure that to Jerry it's worth whatever amount it would cost to fix it for the OP to insure that all the people reading this thread know that Busse stands by its product AND its warranty.

That said, this knife has seen a lot of USE. Jerry wants his knives to get used. If they break, he fixes them. There is no damage to the steel at all, which lets us know the knife wasn't being used to slice through cinder blocks.

that knife has been loved (but it must be a love hate relationship).

I use mine. I chop, batton, throw, slice etc. But I have never beaten one with a hammer, or chopped the handle with another knife.

Jerry is the man, and Infi rocks!

Those pics are great, it sucks the Micarta broke but dang you wailed on that knife. I like seeing pics where people push the knives they trust. I am sure you'll know you can trust that knife in almost any situation.

Those are really great usage photos!

It makes me feel like I baby my knives too much now...

This Busse knife was ....I wont say abused, but it was put through the mouth-of hell and suffered a small setback. Busse Combat Knife, with no questions asked, repairs that knife back to snuff. Busse Combat Knives is a Great, the Best, knife Company!

WOW !!! Great shots STI !!!! Love the Beat up Satin Jack Tac...
