The extraction was with a cold steel machette!
the chips are from the back side of a fiskars axe. I couldnt get through the knot and I didnt want to ruin the edge so I just went through. It took everything I had to get it out.
I used to use a old coleman machette that was old and rusted, no more than a skinny metal bar with a melted handle It didnt do anything but make those almost invisable dents. I lost the coleman baton in a flood. The knife survived though.
I was suprised to see the finish in such good shape when the micarta peice broke off. Its not rusted or anything. Since it was new its had a hairline gap on that side right where it broke off. But I dont think that atributed to its failure.
