Broken ESEE 6?

when i worked in a bicycle shop some of the worst damaged bikes were brought in with a story that always began "I was just riding along and..." after a whle you knew what someone was going to say before they said it, just from seeing the bike.

but having said that... well, some people do poke harder than others. :D

Lol, it is true. Poking could be more like jamming the knife into the wood as hard as he/she could. Certainly possible to break the tip, just unlikely i suppose.

I remember mostly scenes of unitentional hilarity from my driver's ed videos.

Like really really really white people attempting to rap.

There were some pretty gruesome wreck scenes in the films I watched. Course they can't show that stuff now because it might offend the sensitive nature of children and they might have bad dreams but it did make me think about the consequences of driving like an idiot.:)

Ahhh..."I remember...we were flying along and hit something in the air..." :D

D.O.A., usually won't hear that one on classic rock radio, it generally stays in the 1970s where it belongs. :)

Did I read that correctly? "Broke a esee 6's tip off pokeing a bit of wood" OK if this is not put in a pic (no fakes as in TRY to snap it off in a vice using a 5ft. long pipe, *that may do it*) But testing mine, I stuck it in trees and pulled it out from the side=large wound in tree. I sat at an old *but Very hard* picnic table and slammed the point in and pryed up chunks of the old Hard table. Battoned front edge with 2x4 into a 4 in. log. All of this went way past most any knife makers blades. What did it do to my esee 6? NOTHING!! Aside from a small bit of tree sap from my rippin the poor tree some new holes. It was still as sharp as before these tests, No bending or distortion of the blade whatsoever! So I think you should send in a pic of this ungodly tough wood you poked? As I find this Very hard to be true. Prove me wrong, please!! (This I gotta see!!) edgy :jerkit:

I second that...... ;)

The guy said his broke... yours didn't. You get the prize.... :)
Yeah your right. But it seems very unlikely. I may have been here for only a few months, but have been making & swaping blades for over 30+ years!
So I have learned a few things, to my credit. I was just hoping he would show his? Like a few others here (also in wonder) where is a pic?
I was also at Texarkansas U for metalurgy, and forged 1095 for many years. Thats why I was *up in arms* so to speak. And I did do all of that to mine with not 1 prob. OK a bit chilled, for now:D thanks enjoy. edgy

well, it's sort of like watching a Romero film with less gore, so why not?

eh, some pepoople get unlucky and manage to break something that most people would call "indestructible", others can abuse the heck ou of something and never have a problem.

even the good stuff breaks occasionally, and as many have noted... it doesn't matter how it was broken, the ESEE warranty will cover it, no questions asked.

but there are lessons to be learned from posts like these, so while some may want to see the carnage simply for the vicarious thrill, others want to see just what kind of use or abuse it did take to break the tip. call it one of those "learning moments" if you must.

It happens guys. Even ROWEN is capable of mistakes.

Chances are the OP was using the knife a bit hard. Regardless, it's covered.

I doubt you'll see pics. Notice his post count, he most likely jumped on the forum to inquire about his broken knife, got the info he needed and went on his way.

Not everyone is as sick and obsessed as we all are.;)

You're probably right. But in the same way I like seeing a well used blade, I also like seeing one that was used just a wee bit too hard. One of the coolest I've seen was of a guy who used his as a screwdriver. It was just cool!
