broken game warden

Make that 22

I was going to impress my kid - by using my GW to cut out a Ninja Turtles pic from the TV guide. So I sliced the paper but ...

Walker Texas Ranger was on the other side...

Is this some kinda RatFink chop job??? Or did you really break that blade somehow?... nah..no way it broke that far down(talking about NV's pic)

The warranty is straight forward and to the point; We guarantee against any and all unintentional MAJOR damage forever. If you choose not to use it that's your choice. But I think your stance is baloney.

D*mn straight! The day I see Busses getting protected by hordes of ravenous fans ready to scream abuse at the rough use of a rough use knife is the day I stop wanting Busses. If this place becomes like the strider forums or cold steel and the such, where blades sell on a reputation for extraordinary toughness and exceptional warrantys but customers are castrated by the forum for genuinely testing out either, then Busses drop down that level to me.

Right now they stand out as the only hard use knives made that don't have this guardian fan base bent on protecting the reputation of the knives, that just lets the quality of the knives and actions of the maker speak for themselves!

And that speaks far more than a gilded reputation carefully guarded by fanatics. THAT is what makes me 100% certain they're without a doubt, the toughest knives on the planet, bar none!

imho, batoning a knife with anything other than hard wood is abuse, kind of like pounding a 5000 dollar loaded hunting rifle up a bears arse with a cinder block, unless it's a dire emergency.

but to each his own, jerry is a "stand up" guy for offering the warranty that he does.

.

I'd pay to see you do that, Skunk. But first, make sure you amend your will to include all your 10-yr+ old blades to me. ;)

And I'd consider a paving stone instead of a cinderblock. Not as much mass, but you'll be able to swing it better.

Many of my user knives have changed shape over the years, there is still a lifetime of use left in that OJ.....

I'm with Eric on this one. I had trouble with one of mine and Jerry replaced it immediately. I don't feel bad about using the warranty and because of the great customer service I have bought many more and will continue to do so and also tell everyone I know, how great these knives are.

i used a chipmunk to baton this blade

Yeah....he does  that's the second Busse ever Broken. I haven't heard of one of the old A2's being broken. The only other INFI Busse to break was a similar break on a Skelly Key. The fella hammered it into a cinder block and started kicking it around from side to side trying to get it free. He finally broke it. It's a much more delicate knife than a GW though. What the heck was being done with it? I'd love to know!

a basic 9 was broken by mike turber (mod-infi)
a basic 7 was broken by cliff stamp (mod-infi)
a basic 5 was broken by owen w (prying apart a pallet)
the skeleton key that was kicked while jammed in a log
nordic viking broke his orange game warden
this orange game warden
andy prisco broke a custom throwing knife (a2)
papathud broke (sort of) an a2 mean street

No knife is indestructable.
Difficult to destroy, yes. But definitely not indestructable.

There may be a few more examples around the bottom of the forum, but after 20 pages or so I don't feel like digging deeper.

As horrible a case of animal abuse as that is - If A guy could do that buy himself on a live wild full sized bear without actually fireing the gun - I'd be impressed.

Use the right tool for the job. Prybars are cheap.

That's some great customer service.

but hard to carry in the woods on top of a heavy pack :)

...hard to carry in the woods on top of a heavy pack :)

Fair enough.

You made me think of The 13th Warrior, and Antonio Banderas complaining that his sword was too heavy. He was told, "Get stronger.";)

Seriously, though, when I go camping, I bring a camp knife, not an EDC.

That said, I do buy most of my clothes from L.L. Bean because of their no-questions-asked lifetime guarantee. I have used that guarantee many times.

I think people abusing the knives is good. Not only does is show how awsome of a company busse really is. It also shows potential customers how freaking awsome the knives are and how much crap they can take. That kind of abuse is almost unheard of in companies like CR or BM or spyderco (all great companies). I think Jerry taking that bad boy in and replacing it illustrates that Busse is the most dedicated knife company out there and I for one am going to be buying a lot more knives. If i didnt already buy my Badger, i would have definatly got one after reading this post.

I just cant wait for the folder, it would be my dream knife. Busse quality in a folder--drool.

In addition to being The Toughest Knives Period! They also offer the best warranty. That is the main reason why myself and countless others continue to buy Busse.

We all know that there was no ill intention by asi. No intention to take advantage of Jerry. Regardless of all our opinions BOSS HOG has spoken. And again proves how strongly he stands behind his knives. Let's drink.

(Now it's time for me to lift my truck up with my AK.) ;)

I agree that something positive can come from abuse. It tells you how far something can be taken before it lets go. You know that you can really push your knife when you read the story about the dude using a wrench on an M6 for eight hours before it gave up the ghost.

I will also make a confession. When I go camping, I like to carry big knives because I think they're more fun.:o

Since you asked:
Regardless of the guarantee and the fact that Jerry will replace it if you send it in, you paid for a damn good knife (and got one) not a bull screwdriver. Suck up the loss and choose the right tool next time is what you SHOULD do. Or, continue to abuse them in any way you wish (after all they're yours) but don't expect someone to pay for them when you damage em. Do the right thing, just because it is right.

You mean I should choose the bigger Busse next time? :D I will!
Because Busse blades are the great cutting and chopping and prying tools.

 Right on point, man.

With that I am covered for life. If I ever break a Busse blade I won't mean it. ;) And I am sure asi did not think his OW was going to snap thus making it unintentional. You just gotta love that warranty. :D

I can't find any logic in breaking a knife on purpose only to get it replaced. You're just going to get the same knife again. No one is being taken advantage of. Besides, if you don't like the knife, you're not going to break it to get shop credit. Nine times out of ten you can sell your user for more than the original cost. It doesn't make sense to think people do it on purpose. Jerry made and stands by his warranty for a reason. He wants everyone to have fun while using their knives. When we get a new knife, deep down inside, we want to go out and destroy the world. If our knife breaks while trying to reach our goal, Jerry will more than gladly replace it and tell you to keep up the good work.

(I broke my SK. I didn't want to. I put a lot of work in my attempt of a satin finish. I don't know how many of you have tried that, but the ones who have know that you aren't just going to throw that progress away.)
