As part of my Christmas to me I am thinking about buying the aforementioned Broken Skull. I would like to see what ya'll's opinions are from those of you that currently own or have owned one. Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!!

I really like mine. I was surprised at how slim and lightweight the knife was. It came hair-popping sharp with a relatively easy to operate Tri-Ad lock. It rides well loose in my pocket. Now for the negatives. The clip is too stiff and small. The name emblazoned on the blade in large font is obnoxious. But the knife feels so good in hand that I can overlook the negatives. It is one of my favorite carry knives.

Stupid name, great knife. It's essentially a long slicey blade in a tiny package, for a 4" folder. The slim handle keeps you from doing hard work but for just cutting stuff that isn't wood or cardboard, or lots of it at least, it's great. I think there were some on cold steel's Christmas sale page on the LT special projects site.

The pocket clip isn't the best, but I don't think pocket clips are something does well as a whole. Sometimes they're good, but they often feel unsubstantial, IMO. They work well enough.

I'm not sure there's a better value in a 4" folder that you want to be really easy to carry.

I've owned a couple. For some reason I keep letting them go but I have another on the way! I can't remember exactly what I did with the clip but if bending the clip to reduce spring tension is insufficient then I grind away some steel to weaken the spring. Can grind from the sides or use a carbide burr to remove some steel from the underside of the clip. They are fixable. I like modding and the clip is often a part of the project.

I've always loved my Spyderco Enduras cause they are slim and comfortable to carry but the VG10 just wasn't doing it for me. It's time to try something new. I have an ultimate hunter folder and I just really dig it, it's just a bit heavy.

Here's some comparison of similar sized knives and then a thickness difference of the broken skull and the endura. Hopefully this helps give you a reference point of what the broken skull will be like.

If you loved the Spyderco Endura, I think you'll love the Broken Skull as well. I've owned both for some time now (the Endura much longer), and both are fantastic. On the note of the clip point blade, I find that fine tip very useful for random EDC small cutting chores.

I will say that one modification I made to mine was the near-complete removal of texture from the G10 handles. I much prefer it this way.

I've been considering sanding and polishing some of my G10 scaled knives. Would you mind posing a pic of what yours looks like? I'd love to get an idea.

On paper it’s a big winner, but I just can’t warm up to it. I don’t like the pocket clip, lack of a lanyard hole, and the black coated blade. Worst of all is the large branding on the blade. I will say it has great size to weight ratio, a super useful blade shape, and good fit and finish though.

I have to admit that I like my cs broken skull alot more than my endura.Blade opening and closings are just functionally easier.

I have the coyote g-10 version in Cts-xhp but I wouldn't mind a pink or blue one in s35vn from CS Christmas Sale for not all that much. The black dlc blade is nice and the pocket clip maybe a bit small but that doesn't bother me.

As you can see, I haven't quite polished mine, but even this level of sanding has made the handle more comfortable to hold, and has made it easier to clip and unclip from the pocket. The clip itself still has fairly high tension, but now it doesn't chew up fabric quite so much.

I love it. Do you just use progressively finer sand paper on a sanding block, or is there some other trick?

I just used one sheet of sandpaper taped to a flat surface-- in this case, a countertop. Small figure-eight motion during sanding to keep applied pressure fairly even across the surface. This kind of modification is easy when the handle scale surface is flat! I don't think I spent more than ten minutes on it between setup, actually sanding, and cleaning up afterwards.

excellent. Thank you for the tip. I’ll be doing this to one of my knives later this afternoon.
