Would probably qualify for warranty - except for you modding the blade, perhaps.

When I look at the proportions of the blade relative to the tang, this was waiting to happen, though.

That rust inside the break shows there were cracks there for a while before the breakage. Definitely hit Cold Steel up for some warranty work.

I work in an areospace company, and the NDT guy said in had appeared to had been welded in that area, there were cracks and some porosity present...

Here's the pic for you guys that don't feel like clicking on the linnk

Ugh - that sucks, scrumpy... I hope they replace it for you. Did the blade go flying when it broke or did it get stuck in the wood?

Is that a Cold Steel LTC Kukri, a Cold Steel Kukri Machete, or a knock off of one of the two?

well, if they dont replace it, i would grind out part of the blade and the butt, drill some holes, and mount some new slabs.....it would be one heck of a stubby camp knife!

Well, it's a Cold Steal. They arent that great of a knife maker for a while.

Now that's a shame you would toss that in. Here we have a decent technical discussion about a specific problem and what to do about it, and you make a general remark that tells us nothing -- except perhaps that you don't like Cold Steel.

By the way, they don't make any knives themselves. All their production is contracted out. Some of their lines have a long record of reliability.
