I wonder why Buck hasn’t listed the 102 as an CKS option? I’d love to customize it the way you can a 119.

I’ve never understood the handle “proportion to the blade” theory.

The blade is for the task at hand, the handle is meant to fit a hand. They don’t need to be proportional to each other.

Not saying you are wrong, I’ve heard others say the same thing.
I guess it's mostly just an aesthetic thing.

I don't know why but I'd rather have a grip that just fits my hand good enough and looks right for a particular knife than a grip that fits my hand perfectly and looks a bit too large for a particular knife.

I’d rather have a handle that fits my hand perfectly, no matter how it affects the look of the knife.

Nicely ergonomic handles usually look fine. Almost like they were designed to fit the human hand well while preserving the flow of the overall package (go figure).

I admit that I have seen some egregious exceptions, but they are few and far between.

I'm pretty sure I'm just overthinking this.
I know I thought the Grohmann mini Russell lockback was ugly until I held it , then I so quickly fell so in love with the ergonomics that it's looks started to grow on me.

The 212 looks great and feels great in hand, so does the 102. They're both great knives.

I like the 102, have one, the handle is just a bit short for me. But I have to use it to see how it works, function over form, but it is nice if still looks good. Also have a Mora, just to have one and try, just not sure how the scandi will do as an edc.for food prep, etc. Scandi is supposed to be a good wood carver for bushcraft, which I am seriously lacking in skills.

Did you get the 5160 version? Nice score. I went ahead and got the 117 in 5160 from C&C to have a little bigger handle.

Na, this is just the 420HC with Brass and Cocobolo. The 5160, and S30V versions are on my list to get next.
