Buck 110 auto opinions

I have owned a few 110 autos. Sold them off because the lack of serious thwack when opening bummed me out. They don't spring open with authority. But with that said, I miss having one so I just purchased a 110 auto elite and hope that this one is a keeper.

I may even search out the traditional 110 auto to have back in house as well.
Speaking from my own limited experience with my 110AE:
May I humbly suggest that you didn't give them enough time to break in? Mine was a bit sluggish out of the box. It would lock open, but it took a while to get there. I applied some Hoppe's gun oil to the pivot area and worked the action a few dozen times, and it has fired open with authority every time since. Jusy my two cents, YMMV.

The spring on my 112 and 110 are both strong enough to open the blade every time. If they opened harder, that would just cause more wear over time. I don't know why people want their knives to "open with authority."

"With authority" might not have been the best phrase to use. Maybe I should have said "positive lockup". I'm not expecting the knife to jump out of my hand, but I do want it to fully open every time

I actually do want some authority. I had a Boker Top Lock that I liked the design of, but often wondered if the spring was defective it took so long to open. On the other hand my LUDT opens almost with too much force as I need to have a careful grip when opening or it flies out my hand. My 110 and my 112 seem about right but my converted Buck Duke has it perfect as opposed to my Buck Deploy which is anemic.

Well all I can say is that I have had autos from Kershaw, Benchmade, Microtech, and Protech. My Buck opens just as nicely as any of them. It has a great action, snappy and 100% reliable. All of the other Buck autos I have seen were the same as well. I was concerned at first when I got mine that the pinned construction might loosen up from the blade whacking out full steam ahead all the time, but it has not changed at all from when I bought it. Honestly, my Auto Elite is better than most of the other autos I have ever owned. So count me in as a fan of whatever springs Buck uses. lol
