BUCK 110 Auto

Yes... but does Buck assemble them in house, or are they assembled off-site by a 3rd party?

You released your own t-shirts too, but I doubt you have a seamstress in house, right?

I assumed that when he said "Buck made" that he meant made entirely by Buck. Maybe I shouldn't assume?

I didn't mean for my response to come across as snotty.

I remember an early conversation about these autos where it was suggested that a particular individual outside of Buck may have had some design input and may be either providing parts or even assembling them. Rumors, of course...

I believe they missed the mark when they chose their auto to be single action.A double action would not have taken any more technical skill to create and manufacture.

What is the difference between single and double action? Single is auto out, manual close; double is auto out and auto close? Sorry, but I've never owned one and will probably never be allowed to legally.

A double action auto allows the user the option of deploying the blade either manually or automatically with the push of the button. Some situations may warrant opening the blade manually.A double action allows the user that choice.

Oh, thank you! I would not have guessed that.

The New Buck Version is made 100% in our factory.

Awesome! Just waiting on my local brick and mortar to get their months old order! Received everything (including the other autos) except the 110 autos. I haven't been in in 2 weeks though, so I'll check tomorrow.

You can open any auto in a surreptitious manner if you want to. Just takes two hands. A Dual Action (DA) auto usually allows for one hand opening w/o auto deployment. If the Auto110 was DA, it still wouldn't open manually single handed since it doesn't have an opening hole or a thumb stud.

The Auto110 would be a better knife with a safety so you didn't have to use the sheath to protect yourself from accidental opening. The Impact has a safety, Benchmades have safeties. However putting a safety into the Auto110 might not have been possible w/o changing the knife so much it no longer would be a 110. In addition, the Auto110 is reasonably priced ($140 at BHQ), it probably helps the price using the 110 as its backbone.

I agree with Makael the 110 auto is a nice knife. I've had knives from other manufacturers that have the safety lock on them and I find them to be like the key lock on some other type of weapon which in my opinion makes it absolutely useless.

Buck did a fine job on the 110 auto.

There has been more than one instance of an auto opening in a pocket and damaging the owner. How quick is deployment for the Auto110 when it's buttoned up in its sheath?

Wouldn't you feel it opening and be a little careful when you stuck your hand in your pocket? Besides that how many people carry a 110 in their pocket? The button is kind of recessed, I think you should purchase one for yourself and if you think it's too dangerous, sell it.

I stopped in my local B&M today and apparently just in time! Of the 30 of these that they received in the last 10 days or so, they had only 10-12 left. Now it's more like 9-11 left! Photos and initial impressions coming soon...

Seems like an OTF would be more inclined to cause injury that way then one that swings open from the side. As far as deployment goes I'd think unsnapping a sheath wouldn't be much slower than fishing it out of a pocket. It would still be faster than a manual.

I bought two at the factory sale then ended up selling one to a friend of mine because he was unable to goto Buck that week. Action is smooth. Kinda need to act like an adult when using the automatic. It is fast. It is faster when the action is cleaned and lubed.
