Buck 110 from Walmart

Boy you guys get your knives cheap, my local farm store had a 40% of sale on all Buck knives, so I bought a 110 and a few other knives, thinking I got a real good deal.....Reg price was just south of a 100, I paid around 60 Can....
Our knife prices are better than our healthcare prices I suppose :P

Thanks for your response mr.hubbard.My buck knife buying spree sent me on 14 new buck knife buys, and I will tell you I'm super happy with every one of them.in the past I've had a few that needed attention, the good part is knowing buck will make it right.I just had three 110 folders in for warranty, and again I must say pulling them out of the box yesterday I was very impressed, each knife was perfect.i think they are doing a great job at buck, but like was said earlier, they are human, and stuff happens.keep up the good work BUck!

I have 2 110's. one from Walmart and one from somewhere else, and I got to say the walmart one is utter shit. The wood does not match at all, blade is not centered the action is terrible and very stiff and the brass came new from the box scratched to hell. According to my findings I can't conclude anything else than walmart gets the B range of 110's. this is off course based of 1 sample and I could just have gotten a lemon.

I bought one from walmart a few weeks ago to keep in my horses hooves kit. It was flawless, great grain, and a bargin.

To each their own I guess on this old thread...

Dutch, I have an old 110 that has the three line, BUCK, 110, USA stamp. The scales on it are mismatched also, it happens. Also, those big box stores have knives that get handled ALOT! Scratches might not be BUCK's fault...the centering, probably, sorry to say. WalMart will exchange it, if you so desire, you should be able to inspect one or three and pick out the best one. Preston

I've been able to inspect every boxed Buck I've bought at Wally World or any other brick and mortar store before I bought it. The clamshell offerings only allow visual inspection of one side. Just saying.

Hypothesis: When someone buys an in-the-blister-pack Buck 110 from Wally World and it is perfect they rarely come to this forum and complain. Someone is likely to bash them for shopping there. Heck, lots of people feel ashamed to shop there. On the other hand the people who get a crummy one get mad and may find the forum a good place to show their irritation. My 110 came from Farm and Fleet in 2014 - in 2014 Farm and Fleet was selling them cheaper than Walmart and with leather sheaths!

I buy TP and kitty litter and paper towels from Wally World but I don't ever brag about shopping there. I just cannot resist the prices.

If you shop at Wally once, you probably shop there all the time. There is nothing wrong with that. In fact, you can just put the 110 back in the box and exchange it at your next visit. I don't think the odds of getting an absolute perfect knife or a lemon increase or decrease where you buy it, including from the factory. At the end of the day, it's a bargain. Take advantage of it and enjoy. Buy one for every responsible adult you know.

I've bought a Buck 119 from my local Wal-Mart and not only did I find it to be near flawless. It came with a leather sheath too. The fullers aren't really "finished" on mine. It looks cool and I don't mind it but maybe somebody else would? A flaw? I personally don't think so. Only flaw with my 119 was the packaging that said 410hc instead of 420hc. It was just a printing error. Who cares? lol It's silly to care about something like that. I also got a Buck 110 in July this year from Wal-mart. It's perfect as well. It was STIFF and the blade wouldn't "snap" when closing. Air compressor and wd-40 fixed that real quick. Last year I got a Buck "trio" which is a chinese slipjoint. That was also perfect. For the price I paid for all of these, I feel like I ripped them off. lol I have no clue how I haven't got a bad egg or why others have? I've been fortunate

I had never been to Walmart before as I am from Europe, I was on vacation in the US and decided I could not go there and skip the Walmart. When strolling around and being amazed at some of the people there, and the stuff the store sells as a lot of it will land you in jail in my own country, I saw the 110 and decided what the heck why not. It sits in my pelican next to my other knives(which they do not sell at wally). I had no intention to bash the walmart or whatever just wanted to adress the severe quality difference on a knife I thought there wasn't much to mess up on. Its only 30 dollars so I do not intent to return it or whatever, did never intent to use it anyway.

I think the Walmart Buck Knives and the Academy, Bass Pro, Dick's, Dunham's, etc., are the same knife (sheath's vary). I have bought two Buck 110 Folding Hunters from Walmart for gifts; one in a box, the other in the blister pack - both were flawless. Luck of the draw on a less than perfect knife - in any brand. OH

I believe it was J. Hubbard with Buck who posted in another thread that the knives they sell to Walmart are exactly like the knives they sell to everyone else with the exception of the style of packaging and sheath which are dictated by Walmart. The do not make a "lower quality" version for anyone.

Yep..

My wife got me one from WM and it's just about perfect. Out of the five "regular" production 110's I have, it's easily the nicest one....

This is correct. Some retailers opt for the nylon sheath instead of leather, but the knives are all from the same pool. Sounds like that one should't have gotten out.

Ummmmm........Buck is not going to come here and admit it if they sell their seconds to WalMart.

WalMart is not going to come here and admit it if they get special pricing buying seconds.

Just not gonna happen, right? Think about it.

So this discussion really rests on the input of the two or three unbiased people who post here.......all the rest of it is either offense or defense and must be taken with a grain of salt.

Not a large enough sample to make a decision.

Personally, I doubt that Buck intentionally or as a company policy sells any seconds......maybe it sometimes happens unofficially when there's a pile of knives with small problems and somebody says, "We don't have time to fix all these........let's just send them to WalMart They'll take anything!!!"

:D :D :D

So Buck can't be taken at their word or at least the word of their representative but the folks with issues and no photos or proof of the issues are unbiased and should be taken at face value. Got it.
