Hey there gang!
What type of folding knife is the buck 110 and who else make those types of folding knives? Understand that buck 110 is a legend but I'm looking for something with more of a kick. Better stainless steel and budget 70 dollars +, just something identical to the buck 110 but better.

Cheers

I don't think they make that kinda knife on steroids. You can get better steel, but strength from brand to brand will be relatively the same. What did you want to do with it? You could try Cold Steel, haven't tried them, but they claim there blades are strong.

For a heavy duty clip point lock back in good steel? Try tracking down a benchmade Harley Davidson axis folder. Discontinued but you may find one. Then there is the cold steel code 4 series, voyager, and the two hunter models.

I have a Buck110 in s30v with rams horn scales its a absolutely beautiful knife, but in most cases any of my other 110's would do everything I would use a folder for. What are you planning to use it for anything specific or do you just like the idea of one in a better grade steel.

? :P

Cabelas has Buck make the 110 in S30V for them. It's called the Alaskan Guide model. They're usually in stock and ready to ship. The custom shop gives you more flexibility, but you have a higher price and a longer wait time.

Good suggestions here--a custom shop 110 is a great choice; otherwise an Emerson CQC 13 or a Cold Steel Recon 1 (regular size or xl) might fulfill your brawny clip point needs. I love clip points, personally.

Stick with the Buck 110 in S30V. Either buy from Buck's Custom Shop or get the Alaskan Guide 110 from Cabelas.

To the gentleman above me, you're saying a Delica is a Buck 110 on steroids? Have you ever had a Buck 110?

Please, for the love of god, don't compare a Taiwanese made Cold Steel lockback to a Buck 110.

ummmm how about the schrade cliphanger? I think there are some on this forum that really like that model.

Ive owned a few Cold Steels and a few Buck 110's. Every 110 had blade play and lock rock, the bevels were very uneven, and came butter knife sharp out of the box. I never had any of those problems with Cold Steels. Im a HUGE "Made in the USA" guy, and right now I only own USA produced knives. But the 110 left a lot to be desired.

I happen to have both, and I can tell you that the Taiwanese Cold Steel lockback is on an entirely different level than the Buck 110. While I love the USA made Buck, its history, charm and originality, the Taiwanese Cold Steel Mackinac (Code 4 also, as well as the Recon 1 and any other Triad-Lock model) has a much, much stronger lockup than the Buck. Ever played around with one? I think you'd be quite surprised. Despite their silly marketing, Cold Steel make fantastic folders.

There are hundreds -- maybe thousands -- of lockbacks available. The 110 is one of the best-known (and copied). It's a classic. That said, there is nothing wrong with the variations. Cold Steel makes excellent lockbacks known for strength, and uses a steel that IMHO holds an edge a tad better than Buck's 420HC. You can also get the 110 in S30V or CPM154 (a special run made for BassPro), the latter being my favorite.
