Buck 110 On steroids?

I would say that a spyderco endura is a good choice based on your post. It is a lockback with a similar blade length to the buck 110. Also, it comes in a variety of blade materials and is in your price range.

Please, for the love of god, don't compare a Taiwanese made Cold Steel lockback to a Buck 110.

Actually the Mackinac is a very tough knife. I love the 110, but the Mack is a little tank. The Mack has noticeable weight in hand though if that is an issue to anyone. And the scales are as slippery as goose snot until sanded or modified is some way.

Here you go. Frame made from titanium billet. Scales from carbon fiber. Blade from BG-42 (although, I suspect that is negotiable.)

Beautiful knife, but I have to say this is the first time I have seen the Cold Steel Mackinac Hunter and it looks awesome. I may have to pick one up. I may also customize a 110. I didn't know you could do that either.

Yeah the Cold Steel is much stronger. My Buck 110 had blade play in four directions after trimming light thorns for about 15 minutes. I don't know why people think it's such a tough knife, with it's tiny threadless pivot pin set in soft brass.

Bummer, but thanks for the info. I have had my Walmart 110 for many years now and it still walks n' talks. I have treated it basically like a slip joint or SAK and shied away from side loads while cutting. I wouldn't hesitate to get one in better steel, as I have always found them to be a useful and attractive cutting tool.

FYI, you might check out the Paperstone Buck hunters; 110 & 112. They have steel pivot pins, steel liners and a micarta-like handle material called Paperstone. They're much lighter and don't feel like they give anything up in terms of strength. I had the 112 and liked it a lot.

Get a Custom buck 110 with s30v can't be beat as long as you don't pry with it.

Bucks lockbacks are very very strong in my opinion one of the strongest lock on the market.

I've baton with my 110 that I got from Walmart and it's still sold as a rock.

Best of luck

ZTD.

I second the Paperstone model. I really like mine and they have the drop point blade in S30V. The Paperstone is a strong nonslip material and much lighter than a standard 110. But a 110 on steroids I doubt. Some guys really need all that weigh as they abuse them. DM

I do not have one, but Queen makes a model you might like. It is called the Q-TAC, there was just one here available on the trade section.

Why would he need permission to modify/pimp Buck knives?

The reason I was asking is because a lot of people on this forum seems to dislike copied, or even similar designs, but nobody seems to mind copied Buck 110 designs -- so, I was wondering why that is; if Buck gives out permission or something like that.

I don't mind; I think his designs and 110 mods are great.

Does he have permission from Buck to make those?
You need not permission from GM to modify your Corvette. It will however void the warranty.
I once did a Limited Edition for The Buck Collectors Club of ( heavily modified ) Brass 560/186 style 110's, so I'm sure they are OK with it. :)

Try Muller MSP back lock, they all come with S90V steel, lockup, fit and finish are great.Awesome knife.
