Buck 110 poor finish

I'm not defending Buck and I'm not saying you are wrong, but if you start a thread like this, you need to back up your position or concerns with pictures….otherwise it's just trolling.

You didn't mention any of the things that might help decide the best route to take to make you happy like;
Did you buy it locally?
Did you buy a used knife?
Did you buy it online and unseen?
Did you buy it online with pictures of the knife?
Can you return if for a refund?
Can you return it for a full refund including shipping?
Can you go to a local store and pick out a 110 with the lighter grain you want?
Wood….even the laminated Dymondwood has much variation in color. Some of the older 110's I have with solid Macassar ebony wood have completely different looking grain in the small amount of wood it takes to cover a knife.
Here's one with a solid piece of wood that is desirable to me, but maybe not you;

You seem overly concerned about shipping. You mentioned shipping five times in your first post.
I'll send you the $6.00 for shipping if you pm me, but you are dealing with a wood product and no two pieces of wood are identical.
Chances are real good you're not going to get what pleases your eye without hand picking it.

I can't comment on rough edges that don't look like wood because you didn't post any pictures to point it out.

I commend you for working a 30 hour week while attending college full time.

Buckman 110, is there any chance you could post pictures of the 110 & the punk you have had problems with? I for one would love to see them. I have 110's dating from 1967 to 2012 and have not had an issue to speak of. The fixed blades I have are rock solid also. From the posts I have seen Buck bends over backwards to try to help with any issues that have been brought to their attention. Just I have been lucky enough to not have an issue and do not expect to have any.

Not to be a smart ass but how does one do that?.... 61 years young and I've never been bit by a slippie.....

Bran new now, honestly right outta the box. I opened it, closed it and went to put it in the sheath and the blade stayed open a tad as I pushed it in the tip sliced me wide open. And y'all know how sharp a new 110 is! :)

375 Dave no I wish there was I would. There already gone. I had it happen way before this forum sorry.

How did the lock fail if it had already pivoted past the locking point while closed?

The lock was badly mis shaped causing it to stay open. I guess lock failure was a bad choice to say for that particular situation.

Perhaps you could edit you other post so folks in the future don't run across it and get misinformation. It's possible your 110 simply had some buffing compound in the pivot area and just needed a good cleaning. Either way, dirty or lock "mis shaped" it could happen to any 110 ever made.

I am going to defend my position on providing photos for everyone to see. Please all readers, if you have a great knife, a photo is enjoyable. If you have a issue, please take a photo so we all can see the problem and give the best advice we can as a group.

This may not be the case here but I think everyone would back me up with this,,, a whole bunch of times when someone was having opening or closing issues the group recommended a good cleaning. I mean under running hot water with soap and a tooth brush, spray to de-water the knife and good lubrication. And a WHOLE bunch of times that fixed the problem, not always, but a bunch. Always recommend that as a first step.

I did the rinse and flush on my 301 thinking it might make blades a little snappier. I don't think it did anything. Is the current 301 suppose to have weak springs and snap?

Ditto, no pics and it is just unsubstantiated complaining.

It's not complaining it's a topic of discussion. Excuse me for not having pix of broken knives I had a year ago.

Okay, since there seems to be some confusion here....

I did not say all Buck knives are bad, because I love them and have others that are flawless.

Someone mentioned I should spend my time contacting customer service instead of "complaining". They're closed on weekends, and I wanted to know if they'd pay shipping. Didn't think that was unreasonable of me.

It was a Sunday, you can't wait one whole day? You're in college right? Patience man, I'm sure Buck will take care of you.

It's not that we don't believe you......per say..........but it's pretty hard to disengage the lock on a 110. What were you doing with it?

Well let me correct it. The lock didn't fail it was machined poorly and caused it to stay open. But. I do have a old 110 2 dot that the lock is broke. Can you post videos on here?

I will just say, that I recently had to send in a 112 for the exact same problem. When you closed the knife, the blade would essentially "bounce" back open about an 1/8th inch of the blade tip exposed and then stop like that.

Buck had it back repaired and working perfect in short order, but it can happen.

As for the "walk and talk" on the 301 stockmen, I love them, I have more of them than probably any other knife in my collection, from the first Schrade contracts, to last year's production, and as much as I hate to admit it, since Buck changed the layout of the blades and went to the current backspring system, I've found very few that have the "snap" of the older style knives.

Yep I agree completely the new knives kinda pop. I have a old 307 wrangler that would take off a finger lol
