Another one here, my first locking folder was the 110 which I still have today. Bought it in 1972. I have no idea what became of the leather sheath since I never used it from day one. I always dropped the 110 in my back jeans pocket and the weight was reassuring
In 1973, my brother and I bought one for our dad. Like some of the others here, I bought a clone for myself.
The clone is long gone, but Dad's sits on my shelf of Dad-knives.
Oh yeah, it was the baddest knife out there at the time.
I seem to recall them going for around $25 in the early 70's, which was a lot of money back then. Boy scouts to hells angels wore that leather sheath.
That was my first lockback and "real" hunting knife back around 1970 while in high school. I wish I still had that particular knife. I still remember having a hell of a time trying to sharpen it on an old oilstone I had. I seemed to always make it duller somehow. I don't believe I ever got it as sharp as it came from the factory back then.
I bought mine in the late 70's for 25.00.
It was the first quality knife I owned.
I bought for boy scouts and I remember paying 25.00 for it.
Gardenshwartz(sp?) Sports, Durango Colorado!
Still have it!
Buck 110 was my 3rd knife, My 1st was a Camillus "Demo" knife, (US Swiss army style with steel scales) 2nd was a Parker Butterfly, 3 was Buck 110. All acquired at age 10.
my first was a puma hunters friend at 10, now i realize i lucked out as i got it from my dad, its worth about 200-300 dollars, but i dont plan on selling it anytime soon.
Bought mine at Ft Bragg PX in 1979. It went everywhere and all over the world with me while in the army. Carried it so much I went through 3 leather belt sheaths. Broke the tip opening an oil can. Finaly retired it for a Gerber Bolt action Exchange. pulled it out about 2years ago and sent it back to Buck, They replaced the blade, polished it up and its good as new. Still a good value and hell of a knife for the money.
Not my first locking knife, but my most treasured as mine was inheirited from my father-in-law, who I never met. Don't know when he got it, but it has seen plenty of use on plenty of moose and still locks up like new. I had it professionally sharpened and it's one of my hunting knives now.
My first lockback was a Case Sharktooth in stag (a gift from my parents). My 2nd was a 110 in jigged red bone. I bought it at Smoky Mtn KW in the early 1980's.
