I have many, many Bucks but for some reason I never bought a Buck model 111 with the fancy metal handles and nice detailed sheath. I saw one for a BIN price of $95 on a site but found and won two on the bay for the mid 70s each....I am waiting for them to come in...I assume that is a fair price...since these are closed auctions I can post them correct?

Aha! Your speaking of the 111 Classic, a very different knife than the 111. A good buy. DM

Hi Tom,

I do love the sheaths that came with the Classic 111's. The scales are stamped aluminum and will scratch and ding easy with use. They are very nice for a collection and you got those for a very good price. note the difference on the banners between your two knives.

A few brass scale 111 Classics were made, along with a few brass smaller versions of this knife, and I know of only two of the brass 111 Classics.

Who has the smaller brass sacled ones? Anyone...

Thanks for the comments...this will go into the collection with the other Bucks! I do have a few that actually get used for fishing and as a EDC. I never saw these before, so I guess I wasn't looking hard enough!!! Tom

John, Yes I really like the tooled sheaths as well. Tom, there were 4 knives in the Classic Series, the 111, 510, 513 and 515. The last 3 had a drop point blade. The series was winding down by 85 and then at least one model was brought back by 87. I thought it was a well done series by Buck. DM

Dave thanks for the info! I am safe then to assume the two I won are from the mid 80s?

Tom, No as yours has a 3 dot stamped blade making it from 1980-81. Making those from when the series began. DM

Got them both in the mail today and they are mint!! I love the feel of them too! Wish I got these long ago.....

Wow, you stole that 1st one. I got one for 35 bucks or so. I bid on it after coming home with a few brews in me and didnt figger it would hold up. To my surprise, I was thrilled to wake up to find out I won it. That is until I read the rest of the description to find it had been peronalized:o

Thats what I get for BUI-bidding under the influence

Here's the drop point 111. Two of them were made by Buck, the other one has Dave M. ;)

Tom, Too bad you didn't get the other one. Haebbie, I sure like the looks of your 510. A handsome blade and package it has. Have you noticed all of these have a right hand bottom wound ribbon. Except for the 515, it has a right hand Top wound ribbon. Does anyone else have some different pattern on theirs? DM

yes I have the other drop point 111,,, no I don't know how many others were made..
very observant Dave on the scroll ends!
the one eleven classic came with two different types of engravings on the handle

All the Classics came with a mirror polished blade. As the series was close to being discontinued, the year date knives were given a satin finished. DM
