Buck 119 Destruction Test

I’ve seen a fair number of dinged-up/hammered-on brass bolsters on 110 & 112 lockbacks when I search the pawnshops for old Buck Knives. It seems to be the second most damaged part (behind broken blade tips). Guessing someone found themselves in need of a hammer and didn’t have one. I for one have always taken care of my gear (all types, hunting, fishing, knives, tools, motor vehicles, etc.) ...OH
Back in the day when I couldn't afford Buck 110's because they were a bit more money than Pakistani or Schrade or Case knockoffs and working construction I wouldn't pay the premium knowing I was going to abuse the knife. I have never done it to a 110 but I am that guy that drove brads home with a knockoffs or cut metal or whatever and did all sorts of crazy things with my pocketknives. I just did, and when they broke or got lost I replaced them.
For some reason I have always had some sort of reverence for Buck Knives, it just is.

I’m honestly very impressed with the 120. While I strongly dislike these type of abusive videos, I think the 120 held up great. I honestly can’t believe the tip of the blade lasted as long as it did.

I guess if we are ever invaded by Decepticons I will grab my 120.

Long love the Decepticon slayer.E658B2D1-365B-4D4F-9B58-B2934AF5E142.jpeg

I am also impressed with the one two zero as I thought because of its length the tip might give away sooner but Buck has been producing some really great knife blades even without the super steels. LIBERTY my BUCK 120 GENERAL a Patriot belt hanging tool in the family portrait.

Wow that “ one two zero “ took way more abuse than I would ever put it through in a couple lifetime. Not that I would ever use it in that manner unless someones life depended on it or something drastic.
I’m amazed and I’m glad I have one !

Rinder my friends, this is why we should NEVER sell a knife; regret is almost certain to follow.
Never sell guns or knives.
I was contemplating having a 1929 Colt Police Positive refinished but worried about effecting the value.
My son made the point, it only loses value if you sell it. And I never sell guns.

Buck makes a great knife. 420HC isn't the best steel but the Bos heat treat makes it a wonderful steel. Easy to sharpen (and it will get sharp) and holds an edge.

Probably won't stand up to abuse but this guy in the video was intent on proving it was inferior to Busse.

Aguys relax,he does this to every brand of knife you can think of,nothing he tests makes it out unscathed, that's the purpose of the videoes,to destroy whatever knife he is using. He is getting tons of views and making big money off of destroying knives. One of the most impressive knives he tried to break held up for a realky long time under a lot of stupid stuff,it was the 120 general.it took him a good long while to break that one.lol

See, that right there is what I find astoundingly wrong - that anyone should make a penny for breaking stuff, or any of the other idiocy these people feel compelled to record and broadcast. But that’s just me.

I couldn't get past wondering why the crap this goofus was wearing a gas mask?

also, it looked like the kabar he was chopping the 119 with was also taking damage but he wasn't showing that.

My uncle broke the tip off of my dad's many years ago on a deer bone. I don't think that's gross miss use or abuse. My dad sent it to Buck and they reprofiled the blade, sharpened it and sent it back for free. I think they are decent knives, and I like 420HC for it's resistance to rust and weather, but I don't understand when or why the 119 went from being a $29 knife to being a $69 knife in the past ten years.
