I made a post a few weeks ago about a custom 119 I planned to order. Instead, I fell in love with the looks of the Pro series 119. I still plan to get a custom 119 next though.

I’m just blown away by how gorgeous it looks! I haven’t got to use it yet but as far as fit and finish goes I’m blown away..
The box it came in is neat too.

What’s your experience with the pro series 119? Do you like it?

And to those who don’t have one, do you plan to get one?

Not much in the way of outdoors time this year so my 119 Pro didn't see much use. Next year should be different though. It's a fantastic knife and fits my hand perfectly.

I love 119 handles so much! I know it’s probably blasphemy but the 119 is my favorite fixed blade design. There’s a lot out there. A lot that perform far better at specific tasks but the 119 always attracted me.

Great knife, I’m more a vanguard man personally.
I never owned or handled one but I’ve always wanted one. Specifically the brass and wood model. I especially love how the sheath looks. What do you use yours for? General edc stuff? Boxes? Meat? How does it cut wood? I know my old 119 was able to make feather sticks very well despite being a high hollow grind. How does the vanguard do? I like a knife to be able to handle everything even if it does nothing particularly well. A general all around knife.

I used to have one, have passed it on since. It’s just a better all around knife in my opinion, and I prefer drop points over clip points. The 119 is a BIG knife… and if I was say going to need to hand to hand fight with animals on an African safari, I’d want it… but the shorter blade of the vanguard just suits me better for all around tasks. I don’t hear many people talking about it.. maybe it’s underrated.

I can see how some people think the 119 is too large. I just love longer blades. Anything more than 7 inches is too much for me though. I also love drop points too! Thank God for all the choices we have.

And I agree it is probably underrated because I don’t read about it much anywhere.

I have a pro. great knife. old pic before I started using it....

I like the s35vn steel. holds good edge for awhile and tough enough for normal tasks. this setup of better steel and micarta takes a great knife to the next level.

yeah it’s definitely thin up there. If you use your knives for heavy wood work I can see that being a huge problem.
It's heresy to say this, but the classic Bucks, like the 119, take the clip point too far back on the spine for my liking. I prefer the 124—and now the vanguard.

I've been using my 119 Pro way more than I expected. I've not spared it from abuse and it has performed impressively. It is quite agile for it's size and comfortable with extended use.

And the tips intact and looking great as ever?!? That’s awesome! I’d be a little nervous to really abuse that section. Wonderful pics btw! You, jb and Jeff took great pics!

I want them all!! 😃

But right now I'd settle for a Vanguard Pro with S35VN and micarta scales.
You guys are making me want a vanguard. The length is awesome for an edc knife. And that vanguard would be gorgeous but I’m in love with the brass and wood look. I know it’s not real wood but gorgeous nonetheless. I don’t normally like brass but for some reason I don’t mind on that knife.
