Buck 124 finish issue?

I will come back and post. I think it's good for people to find out how vendors respond in these situations.

Good news! Knife Center already got back to me. And they checked their stock, and they do have some with a better grind. So I'll do the exchange :)

Great! Can't have a Frontiersman without all the steel. You'll need the full blade when you kill your first bear. :)

Well, Knife Center got my return, and now they say the grind on mind is the same as the ones that they have.

I guess no Buck 124 for me round now. I'll start looking around for a like new used one just in case that's what is currently coming out of the Buck factory.

Wow, look for a older one bud. I think thoes are a lil nicer anyway. Id say you would be pleased with it. :)

You made the right decision, raistlin. I wouldn't be happy with that deep grind either.

Double post. What's that all about?

The vast majority of the time I post, particularly with a photo, I must restart my computer in order to avoid a double post. Mgmt. is aware and there is a thread devoted to this problem. Unfortunately, I see no solution. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1212857-Double-Posting?highlight=double+post

Here is what I see. This prompts me to restart the computer. Once started again the original post is posted and only once.

I believe its an issue with Win 8 and V Bulletin.

I get that issue occasionally, and I post from my smartphone.....
To avoid the double post (most of the time) I just scroll up and click the Buck Knives link.
Most often my post was posted, and just once, 5% of the time I get a double....I figure that means I was supposed to say more....hahahaha

BWAHAHAHAHAhahahahahaha!!!!! :D

Oh, and I am wishing you luck to find the perfect 124.
The early 70's ones are bulletproof.
My dad gave me one he bought and saved for me until I turned 16.
I cut, chopped, skinned and used the heck out of that knife on endless camping and backpacking trips for 16 more years.
Then gave it to a younger brother so he could take his turn :)

Here is that knife, on the left, posing during a backpacking trip on the Lost Coast (Northern California) along with my buddies' knives..... circa 1989

Seems like alot of the current production on many models from what I'm reading are below average when leaving the factory. Alot of Buck owners are always saying go for the 70's this or the 80's that. Buck better buckle down and work on the QC and getting out a better product or will lose business. Of topic as far as knives, but I would love to put my money down on a Spitfire but have no confidence in the Spitfire model they are putting out. Lots of talk about blade play particularly on this one.

I find that a pretty broad statement to make given how many knives Buck must be making ever year. The average Buck owner probably doesn't post on Bladeforums and as with any product you will hear from someone with a problem, real or imagined but not the other 100 or 1000 that didn't have an issue. Also you find threads all the time where a complaint is made but no photos are provided to support the claim or the OP makes his first post and never comes back. Just wondering where you are getting you info as you say it "seems like a lot" but is it?
