Buck 124 Frontiersman??

David Martin David Martin . I wasn’t talking about the stick tang Nemo. Of the three 124’s I have the newest is much blocker than the older ones from before the re-release.

I have a 2012 (dark Micarta handles) and an early 1980’s (deep red laminated wood handles). I find the early 80’s model to fit my hand much like the 119, the 2013 is definitely blockier. I also have nicely made, traditional style Bowie’s by Schrade-Walden and Western, I much prefer the cleaner Buck blade design. OH

I rounded the handle off on my 124, especially near the guard where it was very pronounced with no radius at all. I put a good round radius on the corners there and now it’s much better when you have to grip firmly. I don’t mind a bit of blockiness that helps indexing but square corners can be uncomfortable after a lot of cutting. The 124 is a work horse coming in at 13 oz, and makes a great camp knife. I’ve used it to clear some small tree limbs and brush around the camp site, cut up meat and other food stuff, and split some kindling for the camp fire and numerous other tasks. For me it’s to heavy for a hunting knife or the trail. I like the 192, 117 or the 104 for those duties.

Got my 124 yesterday, feels and looks amazing! I tried to post a picture but I don't know how. I just wish it had a wooden handle.

This is a quick, how to post pictures, that Knarfeng did recently in another thread.

Technical Support forum has a running thread in which folks test out their pic posting abilitiev

As a registered user, you can post pictures using a picture hosting site. I use Imgur, but there are others. Once you have uploaded a picture, copy the web address of the picture. Note: picture web addresses must end in .jpg or .gif

Then go to your post and click the image tool on the toolbar next to the smiley tool. Paste the picture address into the resulting popup. Then click the INSERT button.

If you need more help than that, there is a sticky in the technical support forum, that has links to several threads on how to post pictures.

Basic membership I believe is $10 for 1 year.

Every week I read of non paying people wishing they could post a pic of their hundred dollar knife.......

If you cannot afford the ten bucks, what the heck are you buying hundred dollar knives for?

I love my 124 LE Frontiersman. Its lightweight for its size and feels great in hand. Like the OP I bought a Puma which at the time I thought was highend (White Hunter model) and while a nice knife I discovered the handle to be too small for my hands. 5F1B7586-9300-46B7-8331-3E4F7B443701.jpeg

Beautiful knife.
That pommel played tricks on my eyes. Took me a little bit to register what I was looking at.

Makael Makael great modifications on yours. Very well done sir.

Glad I grabbed one of these before they became unavailable.
It would be cooler if I actually used it...

Never knew they had one available in 5160. Apparently, I need to try and track one down.

I appreciate how the 124 doesn't have the clip like the 120 or 119, mostly because there are the 119 and 120 that I could choose for that finer tip if I want it.

I kind of wish the 124 was available in the custom shop or there were some more exclusives available, or maybe I'm looking in the wrong places for them. I've also found out that trying to find someone selling a used 124 for a discount is a challenging task. I don't think I've seen more than 1 or 2 in the 2-3 years I've been looking for one because I'm too cheap to try a new one yet.
