Buck 395 Folding Omni Hunter Knives: Back of package at the bottom it says "Designed in the USA. Built in the USA or imported." This seems like double talk to me.

How about saying blade made in Idaho, sheath in Tawian, and Rubber handle made in China? I would feel like they were more intellectually honest that way. Front of package shows a US Flag with made in USA printed under it.

Yes, that is no doubt double-talk.

If Buck did indeed put that on their knife packaging, whoever's responsible should be fired......or flogged......or both.

"Designed in the USA. Built in the USA or imported."

Is that the exact wording on the package? I have a 395 Omni in a box and there's nothing like that on it. It simply has the American flag and says "Made in the USA" on the label and on the box itself. I've seen that the Bucklite Max and the Bantam say "Made in the USA of USA and imported parts."

That is the EXACT words on the package. I have two 395 Folding Black Omni Hunter knives I that I got last year and they are still in the orginial plastic. I pulled it of the shelf and typed it exactly as Buck Package says it.

It's a pretty sweet little knife what ever the message means. At 3.1 oz. it's only about 1/2 oz. heaver than this 422 shown with it.

"Designed in..." is the most horrible of white lies. It implies that it comes from that place, when--in fact--it does not. Case in point: whenever I go to Hawaii, I always buy "MADE IN HAWAII." 95% of stuff sold there (shell necklaces, sharks teeth, bracelets, etc.) says, "Designed in Hawaii." In other words, made in CHINA. :thumbdn: :thumbdn: :thumbdn:

Here's my 2 cents worth. While I agree that the wording is strange, I don't believe for one second that Buck would stoop to the "Designed in the USA" trick to hoodwink buyers. Especially adding the flag and made in the USA on the box or clampack. They have no problem at all with labeling their imports as made in China or Taiwan so why try to deceive the public with this one??

The blades are stamped with USA, the catalog and web site shows them with the American flag and says made in the USA. They may, as do a couple of others, contain some imported parts and I'm sure the sheath is imported, but there's not one reason for them to risk their reputation on a deception of that sort.

Joe Houser is looking into this subject as I post. Hopefully, he'll come here and explain what he discovers.

Designed?

Designer's Choice?

:D

I bet Joe says they already fixed the problem......just a few of those wrongly worded clam packs left floating around out in the selling world.
