Buck 560 Information

I meant the "186" has the key chain gizmo...

That's the hex wrench...Allen wrench...socket head wrench...I guess thingie is close enough... :p

I'm guessing Buck made it small so you couldn't put a lot of torque on the screws and strip the holes...but the owners went out to their Sears tool sets and broke out the 4" long Allen wrench and really torqued those suckers down...

ohhh you mean a bale Gypsy

Jake, I KNOW there are more than a few barnyard critters running around here... but I'm not gathering the hay for them. Let them find their own bales....

Thank's everyone for the information and the picture. I really want the older model with the pocket clip and will keep striped threads in mind. I evidently have the 2001 Crystal B560-WC-0 CAT. 5134 which is on the box it came in.

Is it possible to have to many of these?
Is it possible to have too many of any knife? Lol-ol-ol

In 2001 the 560XL-Ti Crystal had a MSRP of $86. The last prices in 1999 for the 560BT (Black XL-Ti) was also $86.00 and the 560GT (XL-Ti) presumably the gray or silver, was $80.00

While I've not heard of any of the 186's with a 110 blade, the 560's with the 110 blade are easy to explain. Warranty blade swaps - or upgrades - as it is basically the same blade. In fact, just a little off topic, I have a plastic handled 426 with a 110 blade.
Okay so the reason I searched this particular thread was because I stumbled upon a buck 110 with the 560-U blade and I've read that some of the 560's were S30V I wasn't sure if mine is the better steel or the typical 420HC buck uses?

With a thread that's as old as this one it's better to start and new one and then refer/link this old one.

I would 'assume' that if the blade is not etched/stamped with S30V then it is 420HC. Best to post a photo, makes it easy to see /know what is being talked about. HTH

Wow, a 16 y/o thread, Herr Frankenstein would be proud. As Preston said, if it is S30V then it will be marked but the 560 model predates the use of S30V by Buck. I did a quick catalog scan and the earliest mention I found was 2003. The 560's were originally 425m switching to 420HC in 1994. "U" is the date code for 1998 so your 560-U blade would be 420HC. 110's and 560's are the same blade pattern and blade mixing is not unknown in the Buck world. /Roger
