I got my Buck560 in last night. While I really prefer the look of wood and bone handles, I have to say that the 560 is quite a bit more comfortable than the 110. Between the textured and drilled out titanium and the finger grooves, the 560 has an amazing grip!!! It’s also a lot lighter than a standard Buck110. I even dig the sheath. This knife is a real sleeper. I’m surprised people didn’t go crazy over it.

There’s only one problem. The 560 is a real bear to open. I can hear and see the blade scraping against the titanium handle every time I open it. It makes this nasty sandpaper kind of noise. Is this just the price I have to pay for using a textured handle, or is something not quite right with it?

While I’m on a roll…….. Is it possible to send the knife in for some custom work? I’d die to get it opening smoother, and have a BG-42 blade put on it like my PCKS 110. With all that and a one armed bandit, I’d have a BuckBenza!!!!

Buzz,
BuckBenza? Sounds like an upscale car for male deer! :p

But seriously, The 560 is a sleeper. Most of the people that have "discovered" them, have more than one. I do blade changeouts for $30.00. If you want to do this, i will make sure the thing opens smoothly, without that gritty feel. I am anxious to see what might be causing that in the first place.
If you decide to send it in, send it to me at:

Hmmmm. Maybe I should have said a SeBuckza. :)

1. Titanium handled Buck 560 from SMKW - $55.00
2. One armed bandit - 5.00
3. BG-42 blade upgrade - $30.00
-----------------------------------------
Total Cost of a BuckBenza - $90.00

Total Cost of Large Sebenza - $350.00

That BuckBenza sounds like a pretty good deal!!! :D It has a rock solid lock, and a VERY ergonomic handle. It even comes with a free sheath to boot. You can't that beat with a stick. I guess Buck does give you options!!!!

Thanks for the offer Joe. I'll send out the 560 this week!!!

Wow! A 560 with BG-42. I'm there.

Now all we need is a pocket clip. ;)

All this talk of a Buckbenza got me wanting one too. I lucked out and got a 560 on E bay for 43 bucks! Now all I need is to send it to Buck for a BG42 blade and find a thumbstud. THANKS BUZZBAIT!

It's a great idea and I'd love to have one! If the blades are interchangable, why not offer the titanium handle as an option on Pete's Shoppe?

I assume that the blades for the 560 are interchangeable with the 110?
A Titanium drilled handle with a BG42 or titanium alloy coated blade? Very nice!!!
Rob

My 560 went off to Buck on Friday for the BG42 upgrade. I'll make to come back and brag when I get it. :D

Ive got a buck 560 with the titanium blade and love it. But right now its gone getting a new sheath and I am counting the days until its back. As for just including the titanium blade in Petes, I would love that choice. And as for a titanium 112, Joe put the idea thru awhile ago and they are considering it. Put a clip and a thumb stud on either of those and you would beat a sebenza any day.

Titanium blade? They don't come with those unless Pete is doing something new. BG-42 maybe but I doubt that it's titanium. Maybe it's a typo and you meant the handle? Just asking since I've been a Buck Knives dealer for a bunch of years and have never seen them produce a knife with a titanium blade. (Doesn't mean they haven't, I've just never seen nor heard of one.)

I agree that a BG-42 blade would be a big improvement but it would have a long way to go to beat a Sebenza. It takes a lot more than just using the same materials to equal the CRK.

A buzzard and a hummingbird both have wings but that doesn't make them the same critter.

It would be a heck of a knife though and I do like the idea of a 112 sized model. A little re-engineering and some updates and they just might give some of the high end folks a run for the money.

count me in for a 112 titanium(562?). We should start a list for it. It would let you have the capabilities of a 112 in a pocket carry.:)

OK, I changed my mind. It is a really cool idea. I like the finger grooves, light-weight handle and great blade material combo. Hey, does SMKW sell the one armed bandit? take care, rob19.

Jeff,
Stay tuned for an answer to that question. (I hate saying this but...) It is in the works! The last i heard, we were trying to find a source for D2 in the proper thickness. I cant wait to try one myself.

Take care,

Hey joe, can you do any other customizations to this type of knife? as in a clip, or some carry method?

or a lanyard hole, thinngin the handles? anything of that sort?

Joe, if I send my 560 for a BG42 blade change, could you omit the fingernail groove ? I would not need it. Thanks, dannyv:)
